Nats POVThis has been a fucking rollercoaster of emotions. I was happy when I heard everyone supported Spencer. Then angry when she first said she didn't deserve a second chance. Over joyed when Fury said she was free. And when he asked her to be an avenger? Well, I thought my whole world was coming together.
But then Spencer answered.. and that answer didn't really sound like she wanted to stay here, to be an avenger.
I don't know why I'm so hurt by it. I didn't ever think Spencer was going to be an avenger, but I guess, in that brief moment before Spencer started to turn him down, well I guess it all seemed perfect.
Too perfect.
"I just. I don't know about being an avenger... I don't know if that's really for me. I mean, being a hero? This is all of yours thing. What, I would live in the compound? Train? Fight the bad guys? Follow your orders? I don't know.."
"Yes, it would be ideal for you to live here, especially during your training. I don't want you to shut it down right away. How about taking a few days before you give me an answer? I'm sure you need to stay here to heal and all that. Find me before you leave."
"Yes sir," Spencer answers. So she'll think about it. There's some hope. Because now that I know it's a
possibility.. well I don't want to let it go.————————————————————————
Spencer's POV
"Now. About the reality stone.."
"Right.. did Tony tell you the story on how I got it?"
"He did. But, I want your version."
"Well alright. Buckle up, I have gotten really good at telling this."
And so I did. I gave him the story, starting from when I hoped on the ship that happened to belong to Thanos and going all the way to me ditching their asses once I had the stone.
——————
"So, wait.. you're telling me you just grabbed the stone? And nothing happened?"
"Well, I wouldn't say nothing.. I mean, I did learn about the teleporting. And did you not hear about the whole alternate world thing that happened? Like they thought I was some alien? I thought that was pretty cool.."
"Right. You grabbed the stone, had some kind of power surge, the scenery was different, and you escaped with the stone?" Fury asks.
"Yup. That pretty much sums it up."
"And you have no idea how you were able to hold the stone and live?"
"Nope. I know it hurt like a bitch and that they didn't expect me to live.. other than that, I just felt lucky. If I knew more, I would tell you. Promise."
"Huh. Stark? Any thoughts?"
"I mean, if she's okay with it, we could run some tests? Maybe something in her blood could give us some answers?" Tony suggests, looking at me.
"Um.. uh. Testing? Um, I don't know.." I can feel my breath getting heavier.
"We don't have to! It's only if you're okay with it. I mean, we don't have to know why you can hold the stone, right? Just knowing she knows where it is and that it's safe is all we need, right?" Tony quickly tries to ease my worries and panic.
