Spencers POVTony poses a very interesting question.
I guess I was so busy trying not to die that I didn't even think about the 'why.'
Well, besides the actual bullet lodged in my body.
I actually wasn't sure at the time what I was really hit with. I know it hurt like a bitch, but that's not unusual for a bullet. It did knock me out fairly quickly. I wasn't able to use my powers like I usually am.
Even when I was.. injured on that mission with Yelena, I was still able to teleport us back here.
But this time I was almost immediately 'powered down' if you will. I was in and out of consciousness, fever and everything. Not that I exactly remember what happened last time, mostly just what they told me, but this was definitely different.
"It did take my powers out almost immediately. I mean I couldn't keep us invisible or teleport us back here. With Yelena, even with all of the.. wounds, I was able to teleport still."
"Hm.. would it be okay if I took another look at the wound?" Tony asks.
"Uh.. I mean, I don't really care, but.." I look over to Nat, not really sure how she feels about this.
"If it can help him figure out what happened, it's fine," Nat says.
"Perfect, let's.." Tony starts.
"Tony," Nat gets his attention. "Only look at the wound," she instructs with enough of a threatening tone that Tony visibly gulps.
And when he talked, he fumbled the words," uh- of, of course." He clears his throat then he turns to me, "after you, Spencer."
"Alrighty. I'll be back, I hope." Then I walk back to Nats room. I noticed Melina followed us into the room.
"I was able to get the bullet out quite easily. But there's definitely something off about it. I was going to look into it, but since you're here, you might as well take it to your lab," Melina says as she walks over to the side table and grabs a small container that I did not notice before.
To be fair, I was a bit too focused on someone to pay attention to anything like that.
"That has the bullet that was inside of me?"
"Yes," she says plainly.
"Can I see it?"
"I don't see why not," she says handing me the small box. "If you need anything else, I'll be out with everyone." Then she was out the door.
I open the box to reveal exactly what I would expect a bullet that's been shot out of a gun and hit a person to look like.
I just shrug, close it back up and hand it over to Tony. "I assume you want to check this thing out?"
"Yes, yes I would." And he takes it. "Okay, so the wound?"
"Right." I don't need to say any more as I go to remove my shirt. That's when I realize I can't really do it by myself.
"Um.."
"You need help removing you shirt, don't you?"
"Yeah.." I lower my head.
"I'll, uh, go get Nat. I'm actually surprised she isn't in here anyway."
Come to think of it, it is a bit strange. I just shrug it off.
