Spencers POV

"Holy fuck!" I think I need a new heart. It found it's way up to my ears and it's off canter beat is all I can hear.

It takes a few minutes for me to find my body again and I'm able to take in what is happening around me.

Everyone is smiling at me.

I turn to Nat, "what the fuck was that?" I'm still breathing as if I just sprinted a marathon.

"It's a surprise party?"

"Yeah, I got the surprise part. But why?"

"I wanted to do something for you. I know how much your family and friends mean to you, so I wanted you to be able to celebrate your birthday with them."

"Oh. Thank you, love." I smile at her before I pull her in to kiss her. "You are amazing. How did you even know it was my birthday?"

"Yelena told me. You aren't mad, are you?"

"I don't know why they yelled at me, but no. Of course not. You.. you planned all of this.. for me? Just for my birthday?"

I can't help it. The emotions start to bubble up.

"Yeah, of course. You deserve so much more than this. I know your birthday was never something you were ever able to celebrate.. I know most of them were barely acknowledged, if you were even able to remember them.."

She stops a moment to clear her throat.

"I wanted to do something special for you because you're so important to me. And to so many people. I wanted to be able to show you how much. Because you don't always see how worthy you are, Spencer. You have such a big heart, and you care so deeply. You.. you are the best person I know. I am so thankful that you are in my life."

I.. I don't have a response. I can't piece together any words, let alone sentences, to respond.

I may have thought my heart leapt out of my body before, but it just burst wide open.

I can't stop the tears that take over.

Because of Nat and the fact that she put this together. That she cared enough to make my birthday special. That she's stayed by my side.

For Yelena for helping and even for telling her. For being my best friend.

And all of these people.. the avengers. They all showed up for me. To celebrate my birthday. Because they care, because I mean something to them.

And the realization of how alone I was before. How truly and utterly alone.. I pushed away any emotions about family or friends or a girlfriend.. a future. So focused on how I can get through it on my own.

And now.. now I don't have to. I have this huge support system that will stand by me. That care and love me. That wants what is best for me.

An absolutely phenomenal girlfriend that loves me.

I'm safe. I'm free. I have a home. A family.

I have it all.

And all of it..

It's all too much.

Nats POV

Spencers reaction to the party is not exactly what I expected. She was certainly surprised. Confused. Happy? I think.
