Nats POV
The music continues softly in the background, but for now, all I see is her.
She's looking up at me with all of this love and hope, with her big goofy grin that had me from the start.
And she's on one knee.
My heart starts racing at the idea that she might actually be..
My hands fly up to my face, tears welling up.
She starts speaking.
"When I first saw you at your parents house.. well I thought it was over. I thought you were there to take me in. I was being taken to the avengers compound for interrogation and then I was seeing the inside of a jail cell for the rest of my days. I pretty much thought my life was over."
She lets out a small laugh and I laugh with her. I can tell she's a little nervous, but she reaches out for my hand.
She takes a deep breath before continuing.
"Little did I know that that was the moment my life truly started. Ever since you came into my life, I have so much more happiness and love and hope. You have given me reasons to keep going. I'm not just surviving or trying to get by, but I've been living, fully, for the first time.
"I'm not running or hiding. You have made me feel safe and loved and ... and like I deserve more than the shitty life I had. You have made me realize I'm worth so much more. I know I will never be perfect, I will never have all of the answers. But with you I know I don't have to.
"We both have a past we aren't exactly fond of and would rather forget. You have helped me to do that. To break down the layers of walls I never planned on getting out of. You made my past smaller, like it can't touch me anymore.
"You are all of the stars in my sky. You're my sun and moon. You're my whole galaxy. You have my heart and soul. I want to love you for this life and the next and the next. You keep me afloat when I think I'm going to drown. You're my gravity keeping me grounded but you also give me the confidence to fly.
"I guess what I'm trying to say in this long winded way is that.. you are the love of my life. You are the only one I see in my future, the only one I want in it. The house with the kids and maybe a dog or really whatever you want, that's what I want. I want everything with you.
"You are all I can think about. Anyway to see your incredible smile. Or hear your giggle that makes the world seem ok. To hear your sarcastic jokes. To wake up next to you. To pleasure you in any way I can, hearing your moans is enough to drive me crazy."
Okay, I blushed a little bit at that.
"For all of the movie nights, and dates, and bad karaoke, dancing in the aisle, cooking in the kitchen.. I want all of that for the rest of my days, with you. And though I still don't believe I will ever be worthy of you, of being loved by you, I know I want to spend the rest of my life trying to be worthy of you."
She stops, letting go of my hand briefly to reach into her jacket pocket, pulling out a small box.
And I knew, once she was on her knee and all of the feelings, I knew what this was.
But to see her on her knee holding the box..
"So will you, Natalia Alianovna Romanova make me the happiest, luckiest woman in the world and marry me?"
