Spencer's POVI think it's safe to say I definitely have the stone.
The pain is just as bad as the first time I held the stone, but thankfully, it's over a lot quicker.
I'm finally able to lift my eyelids and pry my hand open to reveal a small red stone. It emitted a small glow that soon faded to nothing.
I tear my gaze away from the stone to look around and to my shock, the forest still stood around me.
I really had thought it would disappear once I held the stone. So this is weird.
I know I'm suppose to teleport the stone back to the compound right away but, I only know how to change things with the stone present. And I don't think I should just leave this forest here, right?
"Spencer? Did you get the stone? What's happening?" Nat's voice reaches me but it sounds distant.
"I have the stone, I don't know why the forest is still here!" I yell into the air, not really sure where she is but hoping she hears me.
"What do we do?"
"Still working on that! But I think I have to hold the stone to fix this."
"We're right here if you need help!"
Yeah, right. I can't even see them. My illusion must be getting to me.
"No, I'm fine. Just keep your distance. I don't want either of you near the stone."
There's silence so I'm guessing they nodded in agreement and I just can't see them.
I return my attention to the stone.
"Alright, buddy. You let me control you before. What's so different now? I can still hold you. Why is the forest still standing?" I know, I'm talking to a stone. Just trust the process, okay?
"Okay, last time you kind of went with what I wanted, right? So, what? You don't follow me anymore? Or did I lose my touch? But you still let me hold you.."
I'm going in circles. I am a little lost here. I can still hold the stone, but it's not doing as I wanted. It still led me to it, but the forest still stands. Unless it wants the forest? Maybe it won't let the forest disappear until it's no longer in its hiding spot?
Simple enough. I'll teleport it away.
Nothing happens. The forest is still standing. What the hell?
I teleport it back, looking it over in my hand. It's still just the same red stone.
So what's different?
I take a look around me at the surrounding forest. Yup. Still looks like a spooky forest to me.
So what do I do? I sit down with my legs crossed in the middle of the forest.
"Uh, Spencer. What're you doing?"
"Oh.. uh. I'm just.. getting in touch with the stone?" I know I don't sound sure but I'm hoping it's distorted enough that they can't tell.
I forgot that they can see me. Oops.
Okay, so what's different..
Last time I was obviously a little freaked out. I didn't know where to go but here and it wasn't exactly pleasant for me to be here.
