Ayanokouji POV

I got an anonymous text message on my phone.

Obviously, I wasn't going to dismiss it as a potential trap but the words on text mentioned that this person isn't going to bring backup.

If that were the case...

No, I have to be on high alert. 

There's no telling what could happen in the dead of night. 

I made it to the meeting area. 

Hmm...

This was the same place where Ryuen and I had our talk after the rooftop incident. 

A boulevard where you can view the sea. 

It's honestly a decent place to just relax if I wanted to go outside. 

I even had Kurumi with me to go to this place during our dates. 

It was quiet. 

Too quiet. 

All I could hear is the nightly breeze that's blowing in this less than uneventful night. 

At least until I heard a familiar voice. 

"You arrived as I thought you'd be." I looked to my side as the person before me shows himself. 

Shiba Shinji. 

"Shinji."

3rd person POV

Shinji: A pleasant night, isn't it? Masterpiece. 

Ayanokouji: What do you want from me? 

Shinji: I just wanted to talk to you. 

Ayanokouji: You better not pull anything. 

Shinji: There's no reason for you to worry. I have nothing right now that will make you think that this is a trap. I can assure you of that. 

As skeptical as ever. 

Ayanokouji analyzed Shinji's mannerisms and so far, he has been calm and has no ill intent so far based on his observation. 

Shinji: No need to read my mind. Like I said, no tricks. 

Ayanokouji: Fine...aren't you going to answer my question?

Shinji: Ohh right. I'm here to congratulate you. 

Ayanokouji: Congratulate me?

Shinji: For your "victory" yesterday. 

Ayanokouji: It wasn't much of a victory since you had one of my classmates retired already. 

Shinji: You mean the special threat Kururugi Suzaku? Yes. It has already been the second time for him since he did get badly beaten by Yamato first and then I think you know how it ended. 

Ayanokouji: I see.

Shinji: Let's get down to business though. 

Ayanokouji: Hmm?

Shinji: Tell me, are you interested in freedom?

Ayanokouji: Freedom?

Shinji: Yes, I know very well that you longed for it. After all, you were sick of that place because of your father. 

Ayanokouji: I thought you plan on bringing me back. But...
