The three of you just stood in front of the closed door. It was incredibly awkward, between Hikisaku and your mother anyway.
There was a lot of tension in the apartment.
'I've got to say something don't I? It's been a while since Mimi has been in our apartment, and she sure doesn't look comfortable to be in it. Mom doesn't seem all too pleased with it either.'
'I have to get Mimi out of the house, and I wouldn't mind if I had the chance to be out for a while either.'
"Hey mama, Mimi and I are going out, okay?" You phrased it as a question, but your tone of voice made it sound like you were saying it as fact.
Hikisaku's head swiveled to look at you quickly, and your mother did the same, but slower.
She looked at you, then glanced past you at Hikisaku.
When her eyes darted up to meet hers, your mom quickly turned away, and walked into the hallway before answering.
"That—That's fine dear. Go have some fun, I've kept you in the house all summer. Just one day doesn't seem like enough, but I suppose you two can make due with that."
As she disappeared into the bathroom, you turned over to look at Hikisaku, who was staring at you, and had been for a while.
She didn't seem too thrilled by the idea, on the surface anyway. You mouthed for her to go get changed, and she obliged, leaving the apartment and shutting the door in the process.
Who knows whether she would actually come back out of her apartment if she entered it now.
You didn't let that possibility bother you at all, and you went up to your room to change out of your pajamas, finally.
You put your arm up to your nose and sniffed yourself on the way up. You just shrugged it off, and decided against a shower.

A couple minutes later, you came back downstairs, tugging your long sleeve shirt down to your wrist to make yourself comfortable.
You stopped just before the wall would've blocked your view into the kitchen.
You peered over, scrunching your face so that your eyes could focus.
You saw your mom suddenly perk her head up from behind the counter, and she saw you staring back at her.
She just gave a little wave, and you returned the favor.
"Seeya mama!" You said cheerfully, before walking out of the apartment and shutting the door behind you slowly.
Facing the door, you turned to the left to look over at Hikisaku's apartment. She wasn't outside yet, so you decided to go over to the railing and wait for her to come out, if she even wanted to.
If she didn't, you were going to guilt trip her. You'd just stay in this position for a couple hours, leaning over the railing as you watched what little traffic, road and foot, passed by the building.
As the sun shined down on you, in the middle of summer.
You were crazy enough to do it, and Hikisaku knew that, as she peered through the curtains of her window to look at you.
