"Sun. You've never killed anyone yourself, if I remember correctly." You didn't even ask, you simply stated it.
Forget that, it wasn't a subject that a normal person would bring up. Especially not out of nowhere. It had to be in the top ten worst ways to start a conversation. Not just in general, but that anyone has ever actually done.
Sun responded to it anyway.
"No, I haven't. Not directly, that is. I wouldn't have ended up in a minimum security prison if I had. Did I tell you that at some point?" He glanced up from his microscope for a moment before looking back down.
"Yes. Right before my sister and I fought you. I believe you said that we'd be the first to die by your hand." You recalled exactly what he told you.
".....Did I? That day is a blur. All I remember completely are the things that the two of you told me." He semi-recalled, trying his best not to remember the exact details like you did.
"Is that right?" You let out.
"Yes. But, I haven't completely warmed to your words yet. I'm still not certain if as many people as you said feel the same way that you do about us." Sun revealed to you.
"Not surprising. Prison is diverse enough that something like that doesn't matter, but it isn't really a big sample size." You started a very long winded way of asking a question. Though, it was one that deserved you being evasive before outright asking it.
"But that wasn't where I was going with this. You told us that the Guojiadizi banded together over what they lost to the Japanese."
"If you don't mind me asking, what exactly did you lose? The loss of your arms isn't something minor, I'm not trying to downplay it, but was outright killing my sister and I equal to that?" You asked, the possibility of that really being the case didn't sit right with you.
"What Yugo means is: Is there more that you lost than just your arms?" Uraraka interpreted.
Sun had just managed to return to his normal flow, and upon hearing Uraraka summarize your thoughts he slowed again.
But only for a moment.
".....I suppose I can tell you. Perhaps you'll understand my anger if you know what happened to me." He resolved, as if you didn't already know that from facing him.
"I understand your anger. I'll show you sympathy, but I won't ever accept that you joining the Guojiadizi was right for you." You made clear before he began.
"Hahaha. It wasn't right for me? That's who you were worried about....." He trailed off, before letting out a sigh of preparation.
"Citizenship in Japan, no, most of Asia, has been constantly contested for centuries. At the time of my birth, Japan recognized dual citizenship, and my father's citizenship of both China and Japan were transferred to me."
"Though, I was born in China proper. My forearms were incredibly frail, and the doctors believed that it was related to my quirk, but I showed no signs of having one yet.
I lived out my early childhood rather sheltered, as my parents didn't want to risk my arms getting injured. When I turned six however, they decided to let me out of their sight for the first time."
