Darkness.

That's all there was to see. That's not all that was there however, as they felt that something enveloped them.
Something prevented them from seeing. It wasn't until the occasional sliver of light began to appear that they realized what was keeping them from seeing was themselves.

Their eyelids were closed, and they had been for quite some time.

They could hear. They've always been able to hear. Now, their feeling had been restored, or maybe they had gained it.
But for some reason, the gift of sight alluded them. For some reason, they couldn't open their eyes.

For some reason, she didn't wake up.

She quickly grew tired of that feeling, and she tried her best to open her eyes. It was a daunting task. It was as if her eyelids were glued together, and she was powerless to combat it.

The problem escaped her, for she didn't even realize there was a problem. She couldn't think, nor could she process anything her senses told her. Maybe the root of her problem was the fact that she couldn't think.

'Why can't I think?'

'Hm?'

'Why can't I open my eyes?'

'Why can't I wake up?'

She didn't realize she was thinking.

Nor did she realize she was staring up at the ceiling of her dorm room.

It took her a few minutes to understand, well, everything. Who she was, where she was, and why she was where she was now.

When it finally hit her, she sat up instantly. The suddenness of that movement left her paralyzed for a few moments, as her entirety body screamed at her not to do that.
Take your time, her muscles and nerves would tell her, if they could speak.

I won't. I can't, would be her response.

Now facing the wall, she saw the door to her dorm room at the edge of her vision.

Still in shock from moving, she continued to defy her body by turning her head to the left.
Wall. She knew that was there. She wasn't sure why she turned this way.

Oh, she figured it out. Something was bothering her.

In between her own breaths, she thought she heard someone else breathing.

Uncertain if what she was hearing was real or simply a figment of the imagination she just realized she had a minute prior, she was almost afraid to find out the answer. Courage came to her, despite her immovable spine, and she finally decided to see.

Slowly, she turned her head to the right.....

It didn't take long for her eyes to fall upon something that wasn't normally in her room.
That wasn't true actually. It was in here all the time, just not normally at this time.

At her low desk in the center of the room, a peculiarly petite person was fast asleep. Their small stature allowed them to be in the position they were currently in, which was plastered on the table while sitting down.
