---------------------------------------------------------
The next morning, you opened your eyes, staring out into the forest, in the same position that you fell asleep in.
'That's a good sign.' You thought.
The next thing that popped into your head was to check if Hikisaku was alright. Quickly, you sat up, facing in the direction that Hikisaku should be in.
She was there, and awake, for better or worse, as you realized she was staring a hole into you when you made eye contact with her. Obviously, she was upset, and it was most definitely because you fell asleep.
The two of you then proceeded to have an entire conversation with your eyes. No words were exchanged, the only thing that moved on your faces were your eyes to convey all the emotions that you needed to.
Hikisaku won. But the only reason she did was because she was still unreasonable when it came to Tanahashi. She didn't want anything to do with him, and you weren't sure if anything would change that, not even everything you heard last night.
You finally looked away from Hikisaku to find Tanahashi, who wasn't sitting in the spot that he seemed glued to. Instead, he stood under a tree, observing the camp in front of him.
"It took you long enough Yugo-san. There isn't time to waste, especially not for you to sleep as long as you want to." Tanahashi scolded.
"Yeah." Hikisaku threw in.
"Be quiet Mimi! You're the one who wanted me to watch him in the first place!" You stood up quickly to yell at her, throwing her under the bus in the process.
"And besides, you know that I'm not one to stay up that late. Who do you think I am, Nostradamus?" You continued.
"What?" Tanahashi let out upon hearing that awful comparison.
"Nostradamus? More like Nostradumbass! What if we woke up dead?" She yelled at you.
"Me dumbass? How the hell could we wake up dead? If you're dead, you won't be waking up, let alone doing anything else.
Besides, we're not dead. Or even hurt, for that matter." You said, hoping to bring this conversation to a close.
It might have. Hikisaku just grumbled in response. Then she turned her head away from you to peer at Tanahashi. He was already staring at her, with an uninterested look on his face.
"They're right. I kept saying that I wouldn't attempt anything, and I haven't. I don't expect you to trust me completely, but I at least want you to let go of your hostility, for the sake of this." Tanahashi said to Hikisaku, being as vague as possible, as the scouts were already awake as well.
"You're asking me to trust you with our lives. That's the highest threshold of trust there is Tanahashi." She responded.
"That trust is on two fronts, isn't it? You don't believe that I may be more trustworthy?" He said, again, being vague.
That point actually made Hikisaku think now.
'Kazero, and that contract that he "accidentally" forced us into, it's shady as hell. He's clearly hiding something, keeping information away from us. I don't want anything to do with this anymore, and I want out.'
