The ambience in the room varied. The stream of sewage continued to run, and the small layer that was on the ground slowly made its way back into the stream. The whistling of the busted pipes in the ceiling and on the walls slowly grew quiet.
Dozens of droplets that fell to the ground made their existence heard collectively. One of which, was the flow of blood that came from the alcove behind you. Those droplets rang the loudest in your ears.
Though, you could hardly hear them over the loudest sound in the room: you. Your ragged, rapid breathing drowned out almost everything else.
You laid on the ground for quite some time, completely drained of energy. Uraraka stirred for a few seconds, but then was silent for an uncomfortable amount of time. Out of worry, you willed your body upright.
Maybe too much will, as you managed to get back up on your feet rather fluidly.
You turned your head to the left slightly to see that Uraraka was sitting up, hugging her knees to her chest with both arms. Her hand was lifted up, as she somberly stared at the small cut on the pad of her finger.
It was her right hand. Her middle finger. The finger next to the finger where the ring you had given her currently rested.
You made your way over to her. From the angle you were in, it didn't seem like any tears had formed in her eyes. Her face didn't move at all, it was practically frozen in place. Shock had set in, and it didn't look like she would break free from it anytime soon.
You wanted to say something to her, but you were sure your words would go unheard. That was for the best, what you were going to say to her wasn't something that she'd want to hear, you figured.
Suddenly, your body caught on to the fact that you didn't have the strength to be standing.
You quickly fell to your knees. Uraraka reacted to it, escaping from her trance on her finger, by throwing her arms around you to keep you from dropping to the ground completely.
"Y/N.....are you all right?" She asked as she stood back up, bringing you to your feet with her.
You simply nodded.
Uraraka was staring into your eyes now, but you were unsure what they were trying to convey. She most likely wanted to hear your voice, but again, what you believed you needed to say came to mind.
'I should probably.....'
"Ochako, I—I don't want to sound insensitive here, but...now isn't the time to be licking our wounds." Your apologetic tone made your words more bearable to hear.
Uraraka didn't seem offended by what you said. Instead, she examined you for a few seconds, as her eyes traced the many small wounds you were bleeding from.
If she traced them literally, the result would've been the same as a child's attempt to fill in a shape they drew by scribbling.
"You—You're right, Y/N. There's more for us to do." Her voice was audibly shaky.
"Mhm. We don't have much time." You said ominously.
"Huh? What do you mean by that?" Your vagueness seemed to make her even more upset.
"Do you remember what we came here to do?" You asked her, as you handed her a pair of handcuffs to use on Man Ying.
