---------------------------------------------------------

The three of you made your way through the forest without resting. You couldn't tell how much progress had been made, as the density of the forest prevented you from seeing the sky above.

It probably wasn't as much as you'd like to believe, as that same density made it difficult to travel at a regular pace. The three of you slowed to a crawl trying to clear a path.

"Don't you travel through these forest often Tanahashi? Why the hell isn't there a clear path to the castle?" Hikisaku asked, but she was really complaining.

"No actually. I don't come to this outpost often. There aren't too many people around here that would want to buy the guns that the Guojiadizi would purchase from us." Tanahashi responded.

"Is that all? All these bushes and the underbrush aren't here for natural defense?" You asked now.

"I think the scouts are enough of a defense for them." He replied.

You all continued for quite a while longer. As the trees blocked the sky, you couldn't tell where the sun was by looking for it. The light that managed to find its way to the forest floor lessened, signaling that it was growing dark.

'I'm surprised this bastard hasn't tried anything yet. We're about 8 hours deep into our hike, I would've expected at least a hint by now.' Hikisaku thought.

Her eyes hadn't left Tanahashi the entire time. He was always in her line of sight, even if just barely in the corner of her eye. There was no reason to trust him, to believe that he wouldn't do anything.

The rustling in the trees around you three stopped suddenly, and so did Tanahashi immediately upon hearing it.

Hikisaku grew defensive, and then even more when Tanahashi turned around to look at the two of you.

"We'll stop here for the day." He said.

"What? Are you tired and need to rest? Too damn bad. We have somewhere to be." Hikisaku said antagonistically.

"Mimi." You started by scolding Hikisaku, before turning your attention back to Tanahashi.

"She's right. Is there a point in resting now?"

"It's not for us. It's for them." His head swiveled to look up at the trees.

"They're human as well. They need their rest, and we have to accept that.
Before you ask, yes, we do need to wait for them. The scouts are meant to give us safe passage. if we disappear on them, we'll be breaking the trust we have." He explained.

"I see. If that's the case, we'll have to make camp here." You stated the obvious. You really didn't have any other choice.

The three of you began to make a clearing to set up your camp. Well, camp was giving it too much credit.
The three of you didn't bring any camping supplies whatsoever, so you were just going to sleep on the ground.

The only sort of comfort that you were going to get was a campfire. Everything on the ground that you cleared was gathered in the center of the clearing you made, ready to be lit.

Hikisaku used her quirk to do this. She concentrated energy into her palms, just like she always did, to fire that familiar small beam.

Sure, this was the easiest way to light a fire, but you were sure that the real reason she did it was as a show of force. A way to show Tanahashi that he wasn't a match for her, that she could beat him if he tried anything.
