After class a few days later, you, Ida, Midoriya, and Uraraka gathered around Hikisaku's desk to chat, much to her displeasure.
"Do you guys really have to talk right here?" she said it softly, which is the only way she could think would sound polite, coming from her.
"Does it bother you that much?" you asked her softly leaning closer to her so that she could hear.
"The talking? Not really, but I'd like to get away from this guy as much as possible." she said loudly, and pointed behind her with her thumb, to Bakugo in the desk next to her.
"You're the one who sat next to me in the first place!" he yelled out.
She responded plainly, "Yeah, but I didn't think it'd be this difficult."
Bakugo started speaking, but then cut himself off from the stupidity of Hikisaku's reason,"I hardly even do anything! If anything, I can't stand you idiots standing around near me, talking without shutting up!"
You just nodded,"Yeah, Mimi we should move, it's a little loud over here."
With that, you all decided to move your desk and chatted away, with the exception of Hikisaku, who didn't even seem to be listening until she chimed in every once in a while.
Suddenly, you randomly remembered something,"Shi... uh, shoot, I forgot my mom's birthday is coming up soon. Mimi, why didn't you remind me?"
You turned to her and she gave you a look,"Huh? If you didn't even remember, how was I supposed to know?"
It looked like that was going to be the next topic you'd talk about, as Uraraka spoke,"Aww, that's nice. How old will she be?"
You put a hand to your chin, as if you had to think about it,"Huh, that's a good question."
In front of all four of them, you took the time, and they had to bear witness, to you counting on your fingers as slowly as possible, as if you would lose count if you went too fast.
"I think she's turning 34 this year."
Uraraka looked at you in confusion, "Are you sure, L/N-san?"
Ida had the same look on his face,"That doesn't add up, I mean if you consider our age, and the time of year we're in, then that would mean your mom..."
Uraraka and Midoriya looked at him, waiting for him to finish his sentence, until it hit them, and they both let out soft "oh"s.
You just smiled,"Our age? Well actually, I am a year older than you guys."
In surprise, Midoriya hysterically said,"That doesn't make it any better, L/N!"
In the same tone of voice as Midoriya, Uraraka started,"But if that's true then that means...."
"Yeah, my parents weren't really careful."
The three of them looked at you expectedly, as if they wanted to hear more but didn't have the courage to outright ask, so you decided to keep talking.
"My parents dropped out of high school because of me... no that's not right, they had left long before I was born, when their parents found out."
"Neither of their parents were happy about it, and they basically abandoned them, leaving my parents to figure things out, two teenagers left alone in the world to fend for themselves."
"I'm sure it would've been easier for my parents if it was just them, but they were expecting. They were both forced to work if they wanted both a roof over their heads, and prepare for a baby on the way."
"As much as they tried, they weren't fully prepared when I was finally born, and with my mom having a slightly higher paying job, my dad was forced to quit his to take care of me. With even less money than before, and the small amount of money they had saved up, I lived..."
You stopped to count on your fingers again.
"...about half my life fairly poor. Hm? Sorry, I've been going on about myself a lot haven't I?" you said fairly happily, and you abruptly stopped with that.
"Is that why you're so small?" Uraraka blurted out.
"Uraraka-san! You just can't ask them something personal like that!" Ida said to her in a disciplinary tone.
She covered her mouth quickly with her hand, and bowed repeatedly to apologize.
You just smiled sweetly,"It's fine Ida-san, Uraraka-san. Nothing is off limits with me, you can ask me whatever you want, I don't mind."
You then turned to Uraraka,"What would make me small? Being poor? Well, yeah I could see why you'd think that, but that isn't why....."
"Besides, I'm a lot better off now. My mom managed to hit it big with real estate, and we've been living pretty comfortably ever since I was about.... uhm, 9."
The three of them just stood there, trying to process everything that they had just heard.
Midoriya then spoke, surprisingly,"Hey, Hikisaku, you've known L/N your whole life, right? Did you... Huh? Where'd she go?" he turned to look at her, but she wasn't where she stood earlier.
The three of them looked around the room to look for her, and an evil smile escaped your lips.
"Well, speaking of Mimi, since she's not here.... I guess I can also tell you that she's actually a year younger than you guys."
The three of them whipped their heads at you quickly, shocked at the thought, and all three of them let out a loud "Huh?"
"Come on, there's just no way, she's just so...." Uraraka clapped her hands together and moved them away from each other up and down.
"Forget that! That means she must be pretty smart to be in this class with us." Ida mentioned.
Midoriya, as if it were fact, added, "That also must mean that L/N-san is pretty dumb if they're here with us."
You nodded happily along with everything they brought up, including what Midoriya had said, and it took you a few seconds to realize what he had stated. "Wait? What?"

Proofreader: Sad Backstory? Check. It looks like you left out a lot though. When does Mimi get a turn?
Author: We'll get to Hikisaku at some point, we kinda have to.
Proofreader: Is USJ up next? You'd better make us absolutely annihilate everyone.
Author: Huh? Uh yeah, sure.
