----------------------------------------------------------
Winter was approaching, meaning that dusk had drawn fairly early. It was about 7:00 now, but the fact that it was dark out meant that there wasn't too many people in the streets.
They would probably get a good night's sleep, unlike you. A good three hours of sleep was all that you'd get until morning.
The three of you walked leisurely through the street. From the edge of the sidewalk, the three of you were in the order of tall, shortest, and short. With the way you walked, it was almost as if you were familiar with the town.
In actuality, none of you have ever been here before, and the fact that you were actively looking for trouble made it worse.
That calm stroll you, Tanahashi, and Uraraka were on wasn't an act. You all weren't worried at all about what you were doing. You were however, still unsure of the plan Tanahashi had mostly come up with.
"How many gangs do you think are actually in Saloocamai? There can't be so many that we had to narrow down the search, right?" You asked, as the light of a streetlight shone down to illuminate the three of you.
"You know, I was kind of thinking that as well. Saloocamai isn't that big of a city either. Could that many of the people here be part of a gang?" Uraraka pressed further, returning into the darkness of the night after passing the streetlight.
"You two really don't have a clue, do you? I'd expect a couple heroes to know about these things. Is it beneath you? It's the police's job to handle that, hm?" He taunted.
You assumed playfully, as he didn't give you a chance to answer.
"No, the fact that Saloocamai is the city it is allows for gangs to thrive. It's not that large of a city, meaning that there isn't the need for more than a few hero agencies. So yes, I may have joked about it, but much of the gang problem is handled by the police."
"The fact that it's on the smaller side, and that it's relatively remote makes it rural. There aren't too many massive buildings here, and even less major enterprises, so the police here aren't too active."
"That's enough circumstances to allow gangs to operate. Though, they probably have to keep it under wraps, and the best way to do that is to keep them small.
There may be hundreds of gangs in the city, comprised of at most a couple dozen people."
You looked over at Uraraka. Even in the dark, the two of you could see the looks on your faces, the shine in your eyes. That was enough for you to communicate with each other, and Uraraka answered your puzzled expression.
"It makes sense, doesn't it?" She whispered.
"Everything he says seems to make sense, one way or another." You said, loud enough for Tanahashi to hear. The way you said it though, you didn't mean it in a positive way.
"That's true too. Just how do you know so much about gangs Tanahashi-san?" Uraraka asked him.
A slight smile crept up onto his lips at that question.
"My brother is the one who taught me. Looking back, he says that those few years he spent in a gang as a child were the scariest in his life."
