Elio was sprawled out on his bed, his room covered in posters of galaxies, alien species, and starships. He'd been daydreaming about his recent journey to the Communiverse, that vast interplanetary organization where he'd somehow found himself representing Earth. Every detail of that adventure had consumed his mind—meeting beings from other galaxies, exchanging knowledge, and learning more about the mysteries of the universe. But today, his imagination had wandered back to something completely different.
Elio had always been curious, not just about space but about everything. Recently, he'd been flipping through the Bible, searching for answers, like so many before him. He'd misread a passage—something vague about the body being a temple—and somehow twisted it in his mind to mean that every part of him should be celebrated, including his most private urges. This, to his young mind, meant that certain activities like masturbation were not only okay but could somehow be considered... spiritual.
His older sister, Y/n, was in the kitchen when she suddenly heard strange noises coming from Elio's room. Confused, she furrowed her brow and went to check on him. She knocked lightly, but when no one answered, she opened the door to see Elio, mid-act, completely caught off guard and clearly embarrassed.
"Elio!" Y/n exclaimed, quickly turning her head away, though the shock on her face was undeniable.
Elio flushed red, fumbling to cover himself, panicking. "Y/n! I— I was just... I thought..."
Y/n, while deeply uncomfortable herself, took a deep breath. This was clearly not something she expected to walk in on, but as his older sister, she knew she had to handle this delicately. "Elio, what... are you doing?" she asked, still a little shaken.
Elio's face was practically glowing with embarrassment now. "I was... you know... it's supposed to be... okay, right? I read in the Bible that it's... like, part of respecting your body or something."
Y/n's eyes widened for a moment before she sighed, realizing that he had seriously misunderstood something. She sat down at the edge of his bed, making sure to keep her voice calm and non-judgmental. "Elio, I think you've misunderstood what you were reading. The Bible talks a lot about respecting your body, but it doesn't mean what you think it does in this case."
Elio sat up, clutching his blanket tightly, still incredibly embarrassed but now more confused than ever. "But... I thought it was okay. Doesn't it say that... you should, you know, appreciate all parts of yourself?"
Y/n shook her head gently. "It's not about that. The Bible does say that your body is a temple, and you should treat it with respect, but that doesn't mean acting on every urge you have is the right thing to do. Masturbation... it's a personal topic, and a lot of people have different opinions about it. But as far as what's taught in most religious traditions, it's generally seen as something you should avoid because it can distract you from other things in life."
Elio looked down, feeling even more confused and a little guilty now. "So... it's wrong?"
Y/n sighed again, choosing her words carefully. "It's not about being 'wrong' in the sense of you being a bad person, Elio. But it's something that, especially when you're young, can make you focus on things that aren't important right now. You've got so much ahead of you—school, your dreams about space, and, trust me, you'll learn more about this kind of stuff when you're older. But for now, it's important to focus on growing as a person in ways that matter. Don't let yourself get too wrapped up in this."
Elio looked at her, still feeling awkward but also relieved that she wasn't angry with him. "I just... I didn't know."
"I fucking know," Y/n said softly, putting a hand on his shoulder. "And that's okay. You're growing up, and these kinds of things are confusing. But if you ever feel unsure about something, you can talk to me. I might not have all the answers, but I'll always listen."
Elio nodded, grateful for his sister's understanding. "Thanks, Y/n."
She smiled softly at him. "Anytime. Now, how about we get out of this awkwardness and do something else? You've got those new books about the Communiverse, right?"
Elio grinned, relieved to change the subject. "Yeah, let's do that."
And with that, the moment passed, leaving Elio with a better understanding and the reassurance that, even when things were awkward or confusing, his sister had his back.
