Cat Noir stood in the quiet corner of the rooftop, knees bent as he practiced over and over in front of his closest confidante—Ladybug. In his hand, a small velvet box held the ring he had carefully chosen for Y/n, his girlfriend. His heart raced, palms sweaty despite the cool night air. He had fought villains, faced unimaginable dangers, but nothing terrified him more than this moment: asking the love of his life to marry him.
He fumbled with the words as Ladybug watched, amused.
"So, Y/n..." Cat Noir began, holding up the ring with a shaky hand. "You... you're the most amazing person I've ever met. You're fierce, smart, and you put up with all of my puns." He gave Ladybug a nervous grin, who rolled her eyes but smiled at his attempt. "I can't imagine my life without you. Will you marry me?"
Ladybug clapped, a supportive grin on her face. "Not bad, Cat Noir. A bit cheesy, but it suits you. I'm sure she'll love it."
Cat Noir sighed in relief, lowering the ring. "You think? I've been going over it in my head for days. I just want it to be perfect."
Ladybug stepped forward and placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "It will be. She loves you. You just have to be yourself."
But neither of them realized that Y/n had just arrived on the rooftop, catching sight of Cat Noir down on one knee... with a ring in hand... proposing to Ladybug.
Y/n's heart plummeted into a dark, twisting rage. Her vision blurred as hurt and betrayal surged through her like a storm. Her hands clenched into fists as she stormed forward, the sound of her footsteps heavy against the rooftop tiles.
"Are you fucking kidding me, Cat Noir?!" Y/n's voice cut through the air like a blade, making both Cat Noir and Ladybug jump in surprise.
Cat Noir turned, his eyes widening in shock as he saw Y/n standing there, her face a mix of fury and heartbreak. "Y/n? What—what are you doing here?"
"What am I doing here?" Y/n spat, her hands shaking as she pointed toward the ring in his hand. "I should be asking you that! You're down on your knees, asking *her* to marry you?! What the fuck, Cat Noir?!"
Ladybug stepped back, realizing what was happening and raising her hands in surrender. "Y/n, wait—"
But Y/n wasn't having it. "Oh, don't even try to explain! I knew it. I fucking *knew* it. You and Ladybug, you've always had this thing, right? And now—now I see you're ready to throw me away for her!" Her voice cracked with emotion, her breathing quick and erratic as the anger bubbled up.
Tears welled in her eyes as she continued, her voice trembling. "How could you do this to me? After everything? I gave you everything, and you—" She choked on her words, her anger mixing with the deep hurt beneath. "I fucking hate you, Cat Noir!"
Cat Noir dropped the ring in his panic, quickly standing up and rushing toward her. "No, no, no—Y/n, you've got it all wrong! It's not what you think!"
Y/n stepped back, shaking her head, refusing to look at him. "I saw it! You were on your fucking knee with a ring! You were—"
But before she could finish, Cat Noir pulled her into a tight hug, his arms wrapping around her as if he was afraid to let go. Y/n struggled for a moment, her body stiff with anger, but Cat Noir held her firmly, his voice desperate and soft.
"I wasn't asking Ladybug to marry me," he murmured into her ear, his voice full of sincerity. "I was practicing... for you."
Y/n froze, her heart skipping a beat. She blinked, trying to process his words. "What...?"
Cat Noir pulled back slightly, just enough so that he could look into her eyes. His gaze was filled with both fear and love as he spoke again, quieter this time. "I was practicing how to ask *you* to marry me. I was nervous, so I asked Ladybug to help me rehearse. Y/n, I would never ask anyone else. You're the only one I want."
Y/n's breath caught in her throat as the reality of what he was saying began to sink in. The fury and hurt in her chest slowly started to unravel, replaced by a wave of relief and embarrassment. "You... you were practicing for me?"
Cat Noir nodded, his eyes softening as he wiped away a tear from her cheek. "Yes, for you. I love you, Y/n. More than anyone. I just wanted to make sure I got it right when I asked you."
Y/n's anger melted away, leaving only a mixture of guilt and love behind. Her body sagged into his embrace as she buried her face into his chest, her voice muffled against him. "I'm such an idiot..."
Cat Noir laughed softly, resting his chin on the top of her head. "No, you're not. I should've been clearer. I didn't mean to scare you like that."
She pulled back slightly, looking up at him with watery eyes, her voice softer now. "You really want to marry me?"
Cat Noir grinned, reaching into his pocket and pulling out the ring again. He knelt down in front of her, his heart racing but now filled with excitement instead of nerves.
"Y/n," he began, his eyes locked onto hers, "I love you with all my heart. You're everything I've ever wanted and more. I can't imagine my life without you. So... will you marry me?"
Y/n's heart swelled, her hands flying to cover her mouth as tears of joy welled up in her eyes. For a moment, she couldn't speak, overwhelmed by the love and sincerity in his eyes. But finally, she nodded, a smile breaking through her tears.
"Yes, Cat Noir," she whispered, her voice filled with emotion. "I'll marry you."
Cat Noir stood up, slipping the ring onto her finger before pulling her into a deep, passionate kiss. The rooftop, the stars, everything else faded away as they held each other close, knowing they had overcome another hurdle together.
Ladybug, standing off to the side, smiled to herself and quietly slipped away, leaving the two to enjoy their moment.
And as Y/n and Cat Noir stood there in each other's arms, the future seemed brighter than ever.
