Not much is known about Spy's appearance without his suit, but he is easily recognizable by the balaclava that covers his entire head except for his eyes and mouth. He is often seen wearing black dress shoes, black gloves, and striking red pants, but his most iconic piece is his red suit that costs $3,000. This distinctive outfit consists of a white dress shirt, a $9,000 red silk tie, and a custom-tailored Louie Crabbemarché jacket worth $10,000. The jacket's fabric is crafted from silk produced by silkworms raised in a suit microfarm in Southern Europa, following a secret pattern passed down by monk tailors since the 7th century ME.

Spy is an enigmatic individual who prefers to strike his enemies through cunningness and surprise attacks. He is stern, cold-hearted, and calculating, but is also really cunning. That said, he makes snide remarks to both his enemies and his teammates, being condescending when he feels he is above everyone else. Despite his cold personality, he is compassionate towards his team and Miss Pauling. He does his best to cover it up.
Spy is shown to have a romantic relationship with Scout's mother, which left Scout with nightmares that Spy is his father. Spy is also a smoker, always having a cigarette in his mouth.
