Azazel's POV

November 27th, 2022 ME

It has only been a few days since we managed to contain the zombie outbreak that had threatened our very existence, but little did we know, a far more formidable threat loomed on the horizon. Out of nowhere, a massive army of robots descended upon the Inkadian Isles. These mechanical monstrosities did not discriminate; they ruthlessly killed anyone in their path, shattered our sacred places of worship, and maliciously desecrated the tombs that honored our national heroes. Not a single person--be it ordinary citizens or the esteemed leaders of the Inkadian states--foresaw this cataclysmic event.

Although we often spoke of Inkadia as a unified entity, the reality was quite different. The islands were a patchwork of decentralized states, each governed by its own ruler. These ranged from republics to monarchies, resulting in a rich tapestry of diverse cultures and identities. Even our beloved Inkling language was a reflection of this diversity, featuring countless dialects unique to each state. My home, the State of Inkadia, functioned under a constitutional monarchy headed by Emperor Arcturus. While he held a symbolic position, in reality, the Prime Minister wielded the reins of government, and many local rulers merely paid lip service to the Emperor's authority. The only true unifying force among the various Inkadian states was the Inkadian Defense Force (IDF), an organization tasked with maintaining order and security.

Dark Squid adeptly exploited this lack of cohesion when she launched her full-scale invasion of the Inkadian Isles. This catastrophic turn of events has brought us to the present moment, and to the beleaguered city of Inkopolis.

As I stood at the edge of Inkopolis Bay, the atmosphere felt charged, with a winter storm brewing from a steel-grey sky, heralding the onset of the winter chill despite being in the middle of autumn. Bundling myself in layers of winter gear, I felt the cold seep into my muscles. The impending storm loomed ominously on the horizon; jagged flashes of lightning cut through the dark clouds as thunder rumbled in the distance.

Azazel: They're here.

I was watching the waves crash against the shore, each splash mirroring the turmoil in our hearts. The members and associates of the New Squidbeak Splatoon were bundled up in winter clothing, their breaths visible in the frigid air.
