[Diabolik Lovers] Kanato x Reader

Cold

It wasn't rare for one of the Sakamaki brothers to be mean or cold towards you. You supposed that they had a distrust of humans but it was okay. Everything was okay.

"Where's Kanato?" You ask softly for Shu's sake

Shu points over in the direction of the balcony. You nod in understanding.

"Thank you Shu."

You walk out of the room and onto the rainy patio, a umbrella and a jacket with a hood now in your hands. You walk over to Kanato and place the jacket on his shoulders gently then open up the umbrella and hold it over his head. Kanato glances over at you, his smile refusing to fade.

"Y-you'll get cold Kanato-kun."

He laughs in your face, which makes you retreat back into your usual shy demeanor.

"Vampires can't get cold stupid girl/boy!"

"R-Right.. But still.. You could get sick.."

"Ne, a little rain never hurt anyone. Right Teddy?"

He glances down to his stuffed animal, listening closely to the reply. You await patiently for Teddy to finish. Kanato looks back up at you, signalling he was done.

By now you were shivering, your clothes were soaked and you were shivering but you refused to go back inside. You wouldn't go in unless Kanato came with you and he couldn't care less. He enjoyed how quiet you were compared to Yui.

Speaking of which, she walks out.

"Dinner is ready." She tells you

You sneeze from the cold and glance at Kanato, who turned and hopped off the railing. You watch as he shrugs the jacket off during his process. You run to the balcony to reach for it but it instead just disappears into the field of roses. Kanato laughs at your misfortune.

That was your mother's favorite jacket..

You force a smile as you turn back, convincing yourself that you would find it after dinner. Yui takes your hand in hers, acting as a guide through the mansion. You didn't mind, she was being really nice.

During dinner everyone was quiet, eating away at the food Reiji had prepared. He was a good cook and you've told him so many times.

You sneeze, trying to ignore the fact that you were shivering visibly. You apologize and excuse yourself, deciding that you just needed to step out for a moment. It was still raining of course, give for the new-found thunder. You didn't mind it, it was quite beautiful after all.

You sneeze once again.

"Ne, Teddy, it appears that F/n is sick." Kanato suddenly speaks

You turn around to greet him, only to realize he wasn't there. You're confused but turn around, jumping at the sight of the vampire who was merely inches away from your face.

"Hi..K-Kanato." You greet him awkwardly

"Why are you nervous F/n?" He questions you

"You just startled me is all." You reply, smiling forcefully

You turn away, sneezing again. Only this time a cough was added to the mix. Kanato frowns at this and reaches out, petting your hair.

"It's no fun when dolly is sick." He points out

"I'm fine Kanato, really." You insist

He suddenly grips your hair tightly, forcefully pulling your head so he could stare into your eyes.

"I don't like liars." He growls

You just offer him a closed eye smile, pulling him into a tight hug. He's surprised about it alright, he weakly tries pushing you off, unsure of how to react to this affection.

"L-Let go of me!" He shouts

You release him, giving him a tender peck on the cheek.

"Thank you for your concern Kanato, but I'm alright."

You pat Teddy's head and head off to your room, coughing and hacking as you went.

You open the door to your room, that was quite [gloomy/pastel], perhaps a bit to much for anyone else's liking. But it was a room, and you were just thankful that you had one.

You close the door behind you, softly. Before making your way to your room. You jump into bed, falling asleep.

You would only find out a certain purple haired boy climbed in alongside you when you woke up.
