" look don't worry, if I can't get anyone I'll do it just go and look after your mum ok?"
Fletch put the phone down on the distressed young nurse who's mum had been given a month to live after being diagnosed with aggressive multi organ cancer
He exhaled
" looks like I'll be spending yet another new year in this place" he said to no one
It had been the first year since he qualified that he had managed to get both Christmas and new year off, as had Jac, but with his new responsibilities it was up to him to get wards covered. He closed his laptop and headed home.
Even now he still got a little thrill and excitement about going home to Jac
"Hi" he called as he walked in. Silence

If anyone had suggested a few months ago that this would make her so happy then she would have seriously thought of having them sectioned. But unbelievable as it was she had finally allowed herself to love someone and to allow someone to love her back.
