Well this is too good an opportunity to miss.
" yeah Jac what do you see in me?"
"Stop fishing Fletcher" she walked away to start helping the others decorate the tree . He smiled. Worth a shot he thought because honestly - SHE could do so much better than a single dad of 4
A couple of hours later the tree was ready to have the official switching on of the lights "who's turn is it" he questioned
The fletchlings got into a huddle. "Jac" they said in unison.
Fletch looked at his Jac who over exaggerated surprise as if she'd just unexpectedly been given an award.
"Count down from 10. 10,9 8 ......1 ta da!" Amazingly the tree lit up and all the other
lights in the house stayed on too which by all accounts was an improvement on last year when they took out half the street!
"Ok time for 'it's a wonderful life'. Jac and I will make popcorn and drinks. Sort the dvd and blankets out kids"
Ella came to Fletch crying. He picked her up" What's wrong baby? I don't want to watch the life thingy without Emma. We all watch it together as a family every year"
Jac wiped Ella's tears- " if it's ok with everyone else, Emma should be home in about half an hour. We could wait? Why don't you go and ask sweetheart?" Fletch put her down " thank you Mummy Jac " she said and skipped off
Time stood still in the kitchen. Jac started to cry
"0h babe was that too much, I'll speak to her later "
"No don't" sniffed Jac " I loved it and I can still be proper mummy to Emma and mummy Jac to anyone else who wants to call me that"
"I'm so happy with you Jac Naylor "
"Me too Adrian Fletcher "
