What the hell is all that? She thought as they pulled up outside the house to see balloons and a banner. But she was smiling despite herself.
Fletch helped her out of the car . She was a little sore but able to walk which is why she was furious that the ward had insisted that she left in a wheelchair.
The front door opened and the whole Fletcher crew were stood waiting for her.
"Mummy" shouted Emma excitedly and ran towards her.
Fletch stepped forward and scooped her up in his free arm "Hey scamp. You need to be really gentle with mummy ok?" He said kindly holding her up to kiss Jac.
"Baby, would you like to help mummy? You hold my other hand whilst fletch helps me on this side then I'll manage much better"
"Ok" Emma said jumping down from Fletch's arms.
"Welcome home dear. Are you feeling better" asked Fletch's mum
"Yes thanks Julia. Thank you for keeping the home fires burning" Jac smiled at the woman who was the nearest thing she had ever had to a real mother
"Oh they're no bother"
"Mummy Jac" shouted Ella and Theo
"Hello trouble" she chuckled "hi you two" she looked over at Evie and Mikey "Hey Jac"
They made their way in and Jac was genuinely touched by all the effort they had put in to make this welcome home party
"It's good to be back"
After a lot of chatter and eating the party tea, Fletch put the little ones to bed , Mikey broke the habit of a lifetime and went for a shower and Evie helped her grandma wash up.
Jac sat on the sofa alone, she was exhausted, she felt her eyes closing and she gave in to the lure of sleep.
She was gently woken around an hour later by Fletch stroking her cheek "babe, you're knackered let's get you upstairs"
"Mmmm stay here for a minute" she answered sleepily
"It's great to have you home"
"It's great to be back" she yawned
"Right come here" he said carefully lifting her until she in his arms. He carried her upstairs despite her half hearted protestations and gently placed her down on their bed.
"I love you so much" he whispered knowing that she was already asleep. He gingerly got into bed beside her and had the first full night's sleep since the day he found the pregnancy test. As he drifted off he wondered what Jac thought about being pregnant but it being ectopic. They had never discussed it he guessed it was more important that she was alive, back  home  and back in his bed
