"I hope I can expect that welcome home every night" he said returning the kiss
" these are for you" he handed her the flowers "only if I can expect these . Thank you"
"Everyone ok?"
"Evie knows- she forced it out of me" Jac laughs "the others don't tho"
"Come on then" he put his arm round her and went into the living room "kids turn the telly down a bit... Remember what we were talking about this morning? Well she said yes. Jac and Emma are moving in"
Various 'yays' and "about time"
They all sat down and had Evie's pasta bake for tea and haribo for pudding!
Later after Fletch had offered to wash up he stood in the doorway of the living room. Jac was sat on the floor helping Evie with homework, Theo, Ella and Emma freshly bathed by Jac and in pyjamas were drawing and Mikey was playing on his phone. There was quiet chatter. Fletch felt his chest tighten with love for them all but he focused on Jac and with her in his home and with their families he felt like his heart could burst with happiness. He considered the past few years and recent months and realised he could never have imagined this. Jac turned around and spotted him and flashed a rare but beautiful full Naylor smile
She held out her hand "come and sit down. Evie's finished her homework now" Evie got up to get ready for bed and leant in for a hug with Fletch "nice one Dad" she said in a fairly loud whisper and then skipped off giggling.
Jac and Fletch sat on the floor. He leant against the sofa and she sat in front of him between his legs, his arms around her waist. "I agree- nice one Dad " she laughed softly
