99. Disaster [Shownu]

a/n: hi yalls, did u guys hear about wonho coming clean during the investigation? but what made me ponder was that starship ent mentioned they would support his future activities so im like "so is he coming back to monsta x?" "is he going to be a solo singer?" their statement was pretty vague so i was wondering what they meant. but anyways, i miss wonho.

You gazed straight ahead, hands stroking the wheel and changing the soundless gears according to the pattern of traffic lights. Your black Mercedes leaped forward, gliding around the curve into the carpark and sneering at cars that drove by with low speed limits. You changed the gear and parked your car at an empty spot.

It has been a week not coming to work at the police station because you flew overseas for a holiday. The period wasn't long but sufficient to accommodate to the amount of stress from critical investigations and dangerous plotted crimes. You ambled in the station and scanned your identification card. Stepping into the air conditioning was like walking out of the oppressive heat.

You sauntered in the office and halted when the chief conversed with a well built tall man with no fat on his well-conditioned body. His bone structure was strongly defined and perfectly symmetrical, oozing manliness and intensity. He saw the shock registered on your face before you could hide it. A small smile played on his lips, as if his defined looks made your hear twirl like any other women out there. However, he was just an unknown presence who came unannounced.

"Welcome back Inspector Shin. For the week you were gone, we actually recruited a new member. His name is Shownu and he is the assistant chief. We didn't inform you because you were on your break,"Chief Jeon introduced.

You furrowed your eyebrows and tilted your head in denial. 'Assistant chief? He's a new member but is already given a high rank?'you thought. You whipped your head to him. He pushed himself from the table and scanned you from head to toe, a sinister smirk plastered on his lips. "Hi there, I'm Shownu. I didn't know there's a pretty lady in this workplace. That makes the environment even more fresh. What's your name?"he extended his arm out for a handshake.

Although it was the first encounter, his presence seemed to buzz around you like a fly you could never swat. Every word, movement and breath he performed seemed to infuriate you to no end. The fact an outsider like him could easily attain a spot in the crime investigation department. It has been years working with the same colleague and nothing went wrong. Out of the blue, a sneaky man glided his way through.

"Why is he the assistant chief? Why not the other colleagues who has been working together with us? Is his qualities that outstanding?"you bombarded questions at Chief Jeon without providing attention to the offered handshake.

Shownu chuckled. His arm which was left hanging slid back to his side. Chief Jeon narrowed his eyes at you. He expected such reactions from you because you were always vigilant and cautious. "Inspector Shin, don't you think you are being disrespectful to Assistant Chief Son? I understand it was sudden but he was recommended by the director,"he retorted.

"Chief Jeon, don't be so harsh on her. Besides, its expected that she would feel that way because I suddenly came into the picture. Am I right, Inspector Shin?"Shownu cocked his eyebrows.

"But-"

Just then, the phone started ringing. Chief Jeon heaved a sigh and rushed over, answering the transfered call. Shownu inched closer to you with both hands on his hips, scrutinizing your eagle-eyed expression. "I see that you're a tough woman. That's very charming,"the corner of his mouth twitched into his cheek.

Your nose crinkled in disgust. He definitely had something hidden under his sleeves. "Who are you? You came in through special offer and that's not the case for every staff here,"you shot daggers at him.
