Days later...
---Loki---
I wake up to the sound of the infernal device Thor insisted I needed ringing. I look at the screen. Fury. 'What did he want now, so early in the morning?' One possibility comes to mind and I am almost excited by it but push the thought away immediately. I could not risk growing attached to another mortal.
I had been asked to leave after the girl had fallen asleep and had gone back to business as usual. The telephone rings again breaking my train of thought and I answer heeding Peter's advice to 'never ghost Nick Fury.'
"What do you want?"
I am in no mood for formalities and get straight to the point. The Director seems to be in a similar mood and doesn't waste my time.
"We need you to come in. It's the girl, she hasn't eaten or slept and gets violent when the doctors get anywhere near her."
Damn, I was hoping for him to ask me to do literally anything else. I don't need to grow attached to any more mortals. I decide to try and convince him (and myself) that I'm uninterested in helping.
"So? Why are you calling me?"
"You're the only one she's let near her since she got here. We have to tranquilize her to give her, her meds right now and she can't last much longer this way. We've tried talking to her to find out if she has any family, but she refuses to speak or communicate with us in any way, you're our only option."
'Don't cave Loki, it will only hurt you later when she learns who you are and despises you or dies, mortals are fleeting.'
"Why should I care?"
"By all logic you shouldn't, but that didn't stop you before, so now I'm asking you, because she trusts you. Will you come help us? ...Will you come help her?"
He can see right through me. 'How can I say no?' I don't want to grow attached but remembering her terrified eyes... eyes that remind me of my own back when he had me. I can't bring myself to tell Fury no... to tell her no. I breath a heavy sigh.
"...I'll be there in an hour."

When I arrive the crowd that had been there days ago is gone replaced with a small group of nurses and doctors quietly talking with one another near the girl's door. When they see me approaching they look relieved. This is extremely odd, for obvious reasons the opposite reaction usually happens when I enter a room.
Granted today I'm not wearing my armor that most people recognize me by instead opting for casual Midgardian garb wearing a black T-shirt and a simple pair of jeans. I wouldn't usually settle for something like this but seeing as I will be spending the day in one room and no one will really see me I've decided to opt for comfort over style. One of the doctors approaches me.
