The next day...
—-Loki—-
I wake up in confusion the feeling of something warm on my lips. My eyes flutter open to see Sam's face looking down at me. There's steam coming from her mouth as she speaks the room I slept in for the night being below freezing.
"Good morning, Happy Birthday Lo'."
I feel a smile form on my lips.
"Indeed it is."
"Come on Sleeping Beauty, it's almost noon."
I get up and look at the clock, I have only a half hour before Peter is supposed to get here. I begin getting ready in a desperate attempt to make myself look presentable. I brush my tangled mess of hair.
"Mortal I must get ready, why didn't you wake me sooner?"
She rolls her eyes the corner of her lips curled up slightly likely at my insistence upon looking presentable while recovering in my own home. I guess I could just wear what I wear to bed but that's never been how I've gone about things. Sam herself is wearing grey sweatpants, a Christmas themed sweater and red and green socks.
I guess I don't want to overdo it either. I finally get my hair to cooperate and run into our bedroom to find something to wear. I don't want to wear anything I have in the spell. I find a black T-shirt and a dark green hoodie with a golden colored zipper if I add a scarf of some sort that could do. I find some dark grey jeans and black sneakers I quickly get to work changing not noticing Sam watching me in the doorway.
When I remove my shirt I hear her gasp surprised by what she sees. There are many burn scars across my back. I turn around to see her staring at me her expression is one of fear and horror. I realize suddenly I had never let her see them before. I told her what had happened yes, but she's never seen the aftermath. I stop what I'm doing putting the clothes down.
"I didn't realize you were here... I'm alright Sam."
She shakes her head her eyes welling up with tears at what she's seen. I go to her resting my hand on her cheek.
"I promise you I'm alright. Please, I don't want to dwell on this, not today."
She nods slightly but her eyes still study my scars in the mirror on the wall behind me she wanders behind me and traces a scar with her fingers as if in disbelief that it had been there all this time. I allow her to do this for a moment. I know with her heart it's not an easy task for her to simply set her feelings about seeing them aside.
She stops after a moment circling back around and hugging me. I hold her close. When she pulls away I see she's cried a bit during it but is done now. She nods to me an agreement to move forward with the day without dwelling on them. She leaves the room and I finish getting ready. When I come out she smiles at me all evidence of her tears gone. She whistles looking over my clothing.
"Pretty good looking for such an old man, how old are you this year anyway?"
"1,058."
"Deadass?"
"Eh..? Not for a few more millennia hopefully."
She laughs at my response I assume she's using language I'm not familiar with again. Now all that's left to do is wait for Thor to drop Peter off.
