—-Loki—-

I slept for some time. Right now I'm reading through the cards they're all quite nice. I'm lost in my own thoughts when I hear a familiar voice.

"I saw you after it happened I'm sorry I couldn't come sooner."

Heimdall. He's been very busy this year he represents New Asgard at almost every occasion needed. He was given the position as our head diplomat since he no longer has a bifrost to look after. He's done a great job too. He hasn't even met Sam yet to my knowledge, he's rarely ever home.

"It's fine Heimdall."

"I spoke with Lady Sam on the way in."

"How is she... she sees me but is she alright when I'm not there?"

Heimdall looks taken aback by my question. I realize he's unused to me caring about well just about anyone.

"She is well, she worries over your worry."

I smile at the irony in that, we've created a vicious yet endearing cycle. I chuckle a little.

"Tell her I'll stop when she stops."

He tilts his head to the side slightly just looking at me.

"What?"

"Is this the same Loki who spent his days all alone avoiding everyone and everything? There has been a great change in you..."

My lips seem to move on their own with my reply.

"You can thank Sam for that."

He nods his head still looking at me peculiarly.

"Well out with it there's clearly something on your mind Heimdall."

"I'm unsure if you would want me to speak her name."

Ah, for a long while I had been adamant that no one speak of what happened to the point where I didn't even want to hear my mother's name because of the rage it sparked against myself.

"What have you to say of mother?"

"I feel Frigga would have greatly approved of Lady Sam, and of your choice to court her. I sense she's done a great deal of good for you. I sense it and I've been watching both with my own eyes and through Midgard's news."

I smile at his words.

"You should get some rest."

"Yes... thank you for coming Heimdall."

"Of course."

I close my eyes, a little while later I actually hear the door open I must not be going deaf after all.

"Hello?"

"I uh I'm sorry Prince Loki I need to tend to a few things for you if... if you will allow me."

It's the healer that startled me when I first woke up here. I can tell I terrify him I'm surprised he's come back.

"That would be quite alright..."

I feel like I should apologize... that's the proper thing to do right? I hope I don't make a fool of myself.

"... I'm sorry If I frightened you, honestly I didn't know where I was."

He seems surprised.

"Oh... umm it's fine really."

"Don't lie."

He gets scared again.

"I'm sorry Prince Loki I... I didn't mean to offend-"

And so my reputation has again preceded me, that along with my title... it would surely bring anyone anxiety.

"You didn't, I understand... What if you just called me Loki?"

"Just Loki...? You're sure?"

I smile 'this guy'.

"Yes now tell me what I should call you."

"...Birger."

"Alright then Birger what do you need to do exactly?"

He takes my temperature, gives me an injection of something from our head healer, and is on his way. I'm very tired at this point and when Sam comes in to see how I'm doing though I'm glad to see her and greet her warmly I tell her I'm too tired to carry on a conversation with her she nods.

"Just go ahead and sleep I'll just sit here with you for a while... I promise to leave in a few minutes but well, I just wanna be around you for a little bit even if you're asleep."

I can tell Sam misses my company I hope she doesn't have any nightmares while I'm stuck here.

"Alright mortal."

I take her hand and drift off.
