—-Sam—-

It's four a.m. my phone is ringing I wake up and look at the caller ID. It's Logan. Him calling at this hour... it can't be anything good. Loki groans woken by all the noise. I hit talk.

"What's wrong?"

"We think we found the professor's plane a group of us are going there to see what we can find and felt like you should come."

A million things run through my head the pessimist in me says this is basically a mission to recover his body but the optimist hopes we will find something there to tell us he's alive.

"Where?"

"69º 30' South 68º 30' West"

"Ok? And that's?"

"Antarctica."

There's a finality in the way he says Antarctica like all hope of the professor being alive is null. I can't help but feel the same. I need to be there for this. I wipe away a tear and pull my emotions together.

"When should I be at the school?"

Loki looks over at me in confusion at this.

"As soon as you can."

"Ok see you there."

"Yeah."

There's a sadness to ending this call we both know that any hopes we had of Charles Xavier being alive are going to be crushed by this mission. I need to get ready but first I take a minute I crumple my head into my hands. Why does it seem as if the minute things start going right something has to go wrong?

"Sam what's wrong?"

"The X-men need me."

"You can't fight with them. Thor barely got you out of trouble when you interfered with the M.R.D I will not allow it."

Loki is the only person I know who can make begging you not to do something sound like a command to follow orders. He's scared I'll do something hardheaded and end up in the M.R.D's custody so he tries to take control of the situation.

While most people would be offended by the condescending tone he used. I'm not he doesn't mean it, I know he sees me as his equal. We both know he wouldn't truly stop me from going to them. If that's what I decided I needed to do he would support me. I try to ease the concern I know is hidden behind his domineering words.

"They don't need me for a fight."

He visibly relaxes and I go on.

"They think they found the professor's plane... in Antarctica."

"Oh..."

He knows the situation with the professor. I confirm what he's likely thinking.

"Yeah... I need to be there."

"May I go with you?"

I smile his soft spoken request is a far cry from the authoritative tone he had just used.

"Of course."

I go to my closet and pull out something I haven't worn in a very long time. My X-men uniform. I go into the bathroom to put it on the old fashioned way unsure if it still fits. I look at myself in the mirror. The suit is black with a blue and yellow 'X' on the chest and a yellow line leading from the 'X' down my torso into a blue and yellow belt. I can't help but feel it needs something.

Using the spell via Mjölnir I add a blue cape and some armored pieces to give it some Asgardian flair a style I've come to appreciate living here so long. I probably won't need the armor but if I'm going into a situation where we don't know for certain what to expect I'd rather have it on.

As usual Loki looks at me with utter awe as he sees me in my suit for the first time. It's adorable he always does this. I feel my cheeks heat up as he takes in my every curve. I teasingly scold him.

"Loki."

His eyes shoot back up to look at mine and his face goes red too. I smile at this. We both get everything together we need then leave for Thor's house. We need to use Stormbreaker to summon the bifrost. It's now five a.m. I can tell this is going to be a long day.
