—-Sam—-

Our argument didn't last long or linger in our memories. The only thing that really changed was that everyone everywhere we went was aware of our relationship. Everywhere besides New Asgard that is. Apparently these people weren't huge on keeping up with the news let alone celebrity gossip.

In the middle of one of my training sessions I notice Valkyrie and Sif show up at the house. I'm in my winter gear practicing throwing daggers in the burnt out garden, they're walking up to Loki. I hurry to finish up knowing Sif has it out for Loki.

I walk up beside him standing slightly in front of him glaring at Sif in a way that could be interpreted as a challenge. She better not be here to give him grief. She notices me and her shift in body language tells me she's not here to start anything. I stop glaring but don't move from where I'm standing.

"Hello Sam."

I look at her inquisitively. 'Why is she here?' She just stares at me. Valkyrie sighs.

"Sif came here with the intention of apologizing for what happened that first time meeting you at lunch."

Sif looks annoyed at Valkyrie for speaking for her but nods then speaks.

"I also am just wondering what exactly is going on with you two."

Loki replies to her harshly.

"That's none of your concern Sif."

"Look Loki, I know we've had our problems in the past but I've seen a change in you since this mortal showed up and I'd like to know why."

I could answer that question pretty easily and quickly right now with a kiss but I'm not sure how Loki wants to handle this. Loki shifts uncomfortably.

"Why do you care?"

His voice is still bitter in his response but I can also hear curiousness and a touch of well suppressed hope in his words. Sif responds calmly.

"Because you're our prince, and Thor is my friend and your brother so I'd like it if we were on better terms."

Loki looks at her in thought and nods Sif reiterates her question.

"What's been going on with you?"

He glances at me I can tell he's having the same thought I had a moment ago. He pulls me into a kiss. When we pull away I see that Sif is utterly stunned while Valkyrie is unfazed.

"I told you Sif."

Sif breaks out of her stupor and she smiles still a bit taken aback.

"I... I see. That explains a lot."

Loki acts nonchalant.

"Anymore questions?"

"No just... Sam can we talk sometime?"

I look at Loki for approval. I don't know if they're cool now or what. I guess I don't have the subtlety of interpersonal communication in Asgardian culture mastered. He nods to me slightly. I nod to Sif. She smiles at me warmly. For the first time I don't feel negative towards the woman. I smile back.

"How does a drink at the Drekka pub on Tuesday night sound?"

I don't know, I know she's implying she wants me to come alone. But I know the pub and the people who work there. I need to be rational if I go nothing bad is going to happen, I know this but my fears are making me hesitate. I push it away. I need to follow what Johann encouraged me to do and try to do some things outside of my comfort zone. This is the perfect opportunity to put what I learned in therapy into practice. I nod slightly filled with nerves.

"Ok."

Loki looks at me surprised at my agreement and I give him a small smile.

"Alright we will see you then! Thank you and farewell Loki and Lady Sam!"

Valkyrie and Sif leave. When they're gone Loki looks at me with concern.

"Mortal, are you sure about seeing them alone?"

I nod and reassure him I try and sound confident, though I'm nervous as hell about my decision to do this.

"Yes, I can do this."

Loki doesn't look entirely convinced by my fake confidence though I know he thinks I can do it he just doesn't know if I should. I smile at the concern written on his face. 'How did I get so lucky?'

"I am nervous though."

I admit with a whisper. He nods then puts an arm around me and begins ushering me to the front door of the house.

"Let's get you inside before you freeze."

It's not nearly that cold out it's a little over 40 degrees Fahrenheit but I nod. Loki wouldn't really know the difference, he doesn't exactly feel the cold in the same way I do. I smile as he opens the door for me. No, I don't really need to come in quite yet, but I'm happy with his gesture of affection so I humor him.
