—-Loki—

I'm sitting in the room reading The Odyssey apparently a Midgardian classic older than even me (it's intriguing) while Sam and Peter watch something on the laptop they both clap along with the intro as Peter shouts along with the person in the video.

"MEME *clap* REVIEW! *clap*"

The person in the video then goes on to describe the idiotic yet amusing plan the mortals had a few years back to storm Area 51. As the god of Mischief I could only condone that kind of chaos. There's a knock on the door, Sam looks over in concern. I sigh, annoyed that I have to stop reading my book, and go answer it. It's Fury.

"We need to talk."

I lift my eyebrow.

"Okay?"

If he has something to say why not just lead with it?

"In my office."

Well that's no bode of confidence for whatever topic he needs to discuss. Sam looks in my direction even more concerned now, I give her a reassuring look. I don't want her to be afraid, whatever it is I'll deal with it so she doesn't have to concern herself with it.

"Alright then. I'll be back soon."

I step out of the room. 'What could Fury want?' 'Does he know she's talking now?' I had been careful to hide this she doesn't need to be harassed for information.

When we get to Fury's office and the door is closed Fury finally tells me what this is all about.

"Look, we can't protect her here forever, The director of the M.R.D is on my ass about her every day. If she doesn't start playing ball during 'interrogations' we are going to have to turn her over to their custody by the end of the month."

The M.R.D Mutant Response Division a vial organization heavily funded by the Friends of Humanity, dedicated to making the lives of those on this world born different a nightmare. Sam had expressed to me that she would never reveal any information about whatever mutant group she was a member of. She didn't even tell me which one for fear the room was bugged. I know she's not going to 'play ball'.

"What?!"

"There's nothing I can do. I don't have very much pull when it comes to mutant affaires, it's not my department."

"If they think they are going to come in here and just take her-"

"The law's on their side we'd have to arrest you if you interfered."

"We'll see about that."

At that I leave the room slamming the door behind me, I hear the glass window of the door shatter, I don't care to hear what more Fury has to say. If he can't help it's not worth my time. I hadn't realized until I came back and found her room empty that day, but I care about her.

I have to do something, I need to fix this somehow... struck by a thought I pull out my phone, as king of New Asgard Thor might be able to do something about this. If I could I'd deal with this myself but I see no other way out. I find his contact and hit call.

"Hello?"

Thor sounds confused as I never call him if we need to talk I wait to do it in person but this can't wait. I tell him everything. I can't help but get upset during the last bit.

"I can't let this happen Thor, I can't!"

"Loki calm down, its going to be alright. I'll be over there soon. I'm going talk to Bruce his cousin, Jennifer Walters, is one of the best lawyers in the country. If anyone can get her out of this it's her."

"You really think he will be able to get her to help?"

I doubt that his cousin would want to touch the case with my reputation and involvement in it.

"Of course he will, I'll be there as soon as I can."

Thor hangs up. He's being over optimistic if Walters has a good reputation she's not going to want to have anything to do with this. Bruce and I aren't on the worst of terms because of my actions on the bridge back in Asgard and our time together on the ship to Midgard but he only trusts me slightly more than the others. I doubt he'd really try that hard to do me a favor.
