When we arrive back at Westchester Thor comes running into the Blackbird the second the door is open. He engulfs me in a bear hug. I'm annoyed and confused at first and nearly summon a dagger.

Then it dawns on me, in all the craziness of the Savage Land I hadn't realized we had been gone for a little over three days without so much as a phone call telling the others we were alright. Despite how nice the hug is there are other people around, my face is red with embarrassment.

"I'm fine brother!"

I only half feign annoyance and pull away. Thor looks at me angrily and worriedly.

"Where the Hel have you been?! I almost called Fury to try and find you!"

'He was worried about me?' 'He was worried about a Frost Giant being stranded in Antarctica?' I'd be perturbed by the foolishness of this concern if him having the concern to begin with wasn't admittedly somewhat endearing.

"We ran into trouble."

Thor calms down a little then smirks teasingly.

"Well they did bring you along brother."

"Hey!"

I frown. Why does he always come up with things like that when I haven't got a proper comeback? Sam walks up and Thor pulls her into a giant bear hug too. When she pulls away she leans up against me.

"He actually got us out of trouble this time around."

Thor feigns shock.

"That's not possible!"

Sam laughs then explains what happened to Thor to the best of her abilities as we walk out of the Blackbird. When she's done and Thor is finished asking questions Thor curiously looks at Vili who he just noticed, she's currently coiled herself around my left arm.

"This is Vili."

I uncoil her and hold her out towards my brother he loves snakes. He eyes me in suspicion and I laugh.

"It's a real snake brother, nothing is going to stab you."

Thor glances at Sam who giggles knowing the snake story from our childhood and nods backing me up. He takes Vili and admires some of the tiny patterns in her scales.

"She's gorgeous!"

Vili wraps herself around his arm he strokes some of her scales as he admires her. Vili eats up the attention and I decide to let Thor carry her for a while.

Sam spends some time talking to her family but we're both tired and ready to get home. We head home via the bifrost during which I cover Vili's eyes not wanting to frighten her. When we get home Sam immediately falls asleep on the bed. She has new wounds to heal from now and needs as much sleep as she can get.

She looks so peaceful and beautiful even bruised and dirty from running through the jungle for three days, she's still stunning. I tuck the sheets over her and kiss her forehead as I always do when she falls asleep before I do. I stay up for a few hours to get Vili acclimated to the house, I clean myself up then read a good while before drifting off to sleep next to Sam.
