—-Sam—-

We spend hours in the Blackbird the silence is so awkward. Those that came consist of Loki and myself, Scott, Logan, Storm, Rogue, Gambit, Kitty, Laura, Hank, Jubilee, and Kurt. Jubilee tries multiple times to start up a conversation but nobody indulges her. We're all either to anxious about the mission or angry for the way the 'Loki issue' was handled by Scott.

We periodically nap and sit in silence until we finally arrive. It's a blizzard out there but nobody wants to go home and have to go through this anxiety inducing plane ride again. We all want to get it over with so we decide to brave the elements when Storm inexplicably finds herself unable to command it away.

This is unusual but I know it can happen to some mutants when they're anxious about something. We press on landing the Blackbird as near to the plane's coordinates as possible. We get winter gear on. Loki doesn't need any but doesn't want the others asking questions so he puts it on as well.

I decide this was a good mission for him to come along for. We step out of the Blackbird and begin our hike through the snow following the ping of the plane's location on a handheld gps. We finally come upon it. The crash is bad but I've seen my fellow X-men walk away from worse crashes. Xavier may have died of hypothermia I think sadly.

I feel freezing to death is a worse fate than dying on impact. Despite knowing my tears will likely lead to painful frostbite on my cheeks I begin to cry. Loki sees I'm upset and silently takes my hand. Nobody else can really see that well with all the snow flying too and fro but I guess being a Frost Giant has its advantages.

We thoroughly search the plane there's no sign of the professor nor evidence of him suffering any injuries from the crash. The first aid kit is left untouched. We search the area around the plane and find another crashed plane. The plane is about as generic a private plane as you can get and in a similar condition.

We search it as well and find nothing but a dead pilot. The mysterious second plane holds absolutely no clues as to what happened to our beloved professor. We stand outside the blizzard having calmed down a bit now. We discuss what our next course of action should be.

Some of us want to keep looking others want to go home knowing we'll likely never find the body if it's been buried beneath sheets of ice and snow. I'm silent unsure of what to do my heart is breaking. The argument as usual gets heated between Logan and Scott. I can tell they're about to go at it when Kurt calls us from where he stands near some rocks a good ways away from the crash site.

"Uhh guys you may want to come look at this."

Logan and Scott stop fighting eager to find out what Kurt is talking about. We all curiously go over to where he's standing and look out over the edge of what we didn't realize was a cliff. What's in the valley below makes my jaw drop.
