Christmas Gifts

It's finally time to do Christmas with my family. Unfortunately we couldn't do a traditional Christmas morning like usual but they flew in late last night so this is almost like Christmas morning I guess. I have all the gifts ready and under the tree I have them marked as being from both of us I couldn't expect Loki to know what to get them or anything. Just like last time I can tell he's anxious about this I hope he loosens up again he's just so tense.

We are all sitting in the living room near the tree. I'm seated between Loki and Mary. With the exception of Loki being slightly on edge from anxiety everyone seems happy. Even Logan who's usually grumpy about one thing or another looks glad to be here. Thor finally gets here bursting through the door holding a few gifts. He's wearing a Christmas sweater and Santa hat.

"Merry Christmas!!"

I laugh. Someone's overexcited. Loki puts his hand on his face in embarrassment. I respond in a much calmer tone.

"Merry Christmas Thor just put those under the tree and come sit."

Thor proceeds to put his gifts under the tree and plop down right beside Loki who scoots away not loving the invasion of his personal space. Thor doesn't get the hint and scoots closer filling in the space between him and his brother. For a moment Loki looks incredibly annoyed. He begins harshly.

"Thor..."

Thor looks at him with a genuine smile and Loki doesn't have the heart to continue scolding him. Loki shakes his head in resignation giving up. Thor still looks at him quizzically, Loki sighs smiling ever so slightly.

"Merry Christmas you oaf."

Thor's smile gets even bigger at this. I find myself smiling too. We begin with gifts the others have already exchanged gifts with each other yesterday but they each have things for me and even a couple gifts for Loki. I insist they open theirs first. They all do so. I got a brand new pair of converse sneakers for Laura. She often wrecks her shoes with her claws so she usually buys the cheapest option I wanted her to have something nice.

I got some Asgardian ale for Logan. He'll actually be able to feel the effects from it without having to down an entire six pack. For Storm I got some new gardening tools I know she goes through them like crazy with how much gardening she does. For Jubilee I bought a pair of earrings I thought were her style, for Kurt a hoodie that just screamed his style, for Mary I happened upon a very similar looking stuffed rabbit to the one I had gotten her as a child.

Each of them thank me. Mary becomes emotional upon seeing the rabbit it was her favorite childhood toy and she had been forced to leave it behind when she had been kicked out. I turn to Loki and Thor.

"I got something for each of you too."

Thor goes to the tree grabbing the gifts and handing Loki his as he sits back down. I got Thor some snack food he likes. Him deciding to come to this get together was a little short notice he wasn't sure he would have time. For Loki I happily stumbled upon some merchandise featuring him, I spotted the simple unisex necklace with a charm in the shape of his horned helmet while out shopping with Peter.

It was behind some other Avengers merchandise featuring charms like Stormbreaker, Cap's Shield, a green fist, Ironman's arc reactor and the Black Widow symbol. I even spotted one with Mjölnir and my X-men insignia I wear alongside my Avengers logo.

Anyway when I noticed they had merchandise featuring Loki I couldn't believe my eyes. From their low stock and lack of organization I could tell it wasn't in high demand but it's still a good sign it means people are actually coming around on him more than I thought they were. He unwraps the gift and looks at it curiously.

"Mortal where did you have this made?"

I look at him excitedly.

"That's the thing, I didn't have it made, I found it right alongside other Avengers merchandise."

He makes a face of surprise. He's clearly struggling with how to react to it he'll want to seem indifferent but I'm sure he's actually pretty stoked. I smile at him giving him a look that lets him know not to worry about his reaction. He smiles back at me it's slight but I can tell he's keeping himself from becoming too excited by it in front of the others.

I get it he's uncomfortable with Logan here, they're on good terms and I think Logan is completely fine with us but Loki's still so nervous around him and unwilling to be completely open with him here. Loki finally decides on what to say.

"This is wonderful thank you Sam."

Thor is already eating his gift as he also thanks me this earns an exasperated laugh and an eye roll from Loki. We move on with gifts starting on the ones for me and Loki.
