Nearly a dozen of the Asgardians are dead from the Black Order's attack I find myself pissed. I don't really even know why I'm this pissed, yes I hate unnecessary bloodshed but this was somehow making me angrier than I usually am at the deaths of civilians. I come to a realization.

Everyone in this town had accepted me. Not a one of them gave a shit that I was a mutant. The people here were kind to me. Even if they were cold to Loki they had always been kind to me and now some of them were dead. Loki sees me getting upset as we're sitting in the bed of one of Thor's guest rooms Loki's place had been destroyed in the fire along with many other buildings in the small town.

It was late in the evening now We had just gotten back from the hospital. The doctors wouldn't let me leave to see the X-men off they had to come say goodbye to me there. He rubs my back lightly.

"What's wrong mortal?"

"People died today, good people."

I'm in tears. He nods solemnly.

"I know, we avenged them."

I nod.

"That doesn't bring them back."

He nods and pulls me close as I go on.

"Everyone here has been so kind to me and now..."

I get choked up. Unable to finish my sentence the people here, they had made me feel welcome, like I wasn't some freak. He begins stroking my hair and kissing the top of my head lightly.

"It's alright mortal, the rest of them are safe now."

I nod still crying.

A couple days pass and I can tell it's too close of quarters for Loki and Thor to live in the same house. They're driving each other nuts as siblings do. I suggest we go live in Loki's New York penthouse since both Loki's home and the guesthouse were destroyed. That idea is nearly shot down because of my citizenship issue but we're able to negotiate arrangements for me to stay there.

As far as my dual citizenship goes Jennifer has been trying her best but my records just aren't there. I know what I have to do to help get the dual citizenship appeal process started. I bring it up to Loki one day.

"I have to go back to my old home."

He looks at me in confusion.

"Not the X-men before that. I need to get my birth certificate from my parents."

He lifts his eyebrows.

"Are you sure you want to do that after what they did? I can fetch it for you."

"No I have to do this."

Some part of me hopes if they see me with Mjölnir they'll at least regret kicking me out, regret treating me like trash.

"Can I at least accompany you? I know the members of the Friends of Humanity can be violent."

I nod glad for the offer.

"Wait you're Gyrich's daughter?"

Loki questions as we take a taxi to my childhood home.

"I was."

"Henry Gyrich?"

"Yeah."

"That man has been a pain in the Avengers side for years. He's tried to get me thrown in the Raft as recently as last year."

I nod.

"He's a real piece of shit."

I'm sad thinking of my old family my little sister has to be in high school by now I doubt she'd even remember me. When we arrive at my old home I hesitate before knocking on the door. I try and think of something to say. 'Hey mom and dad it's me the little girl you threw out of the house I just thought I'd drop by for my birth certificate.' I shake my head I'll think of something in the moment. I knock. A red haired teenage girl wearing a black beanie answers the door.

"Is this the Gyrich residents?"

I ask though I know full well from some quick research they still live here.

"Uh yeah, who are you?"

'Mary?!' It suddenly hits me who this girl is. I feel tears form in my eyes my little sister has grown so much. She's the one I'd healed the day my powers manifested. She got hit with a piece of debris that came flying through the window and I ran to her. I compose myself.

"My name is Sam this is my friend er... Mr. Odinson is Mr. or Mrs. Gyrich here?"

I don't want Mary to freak out about Loki being here so I decided to use his 'last name'.

"...Yeah?"

Mary is looking at Loki and me in confusion.

"Can I please speak to one of them? It's important."

Mary nods then closes the door.

"Moooom! Daaad! There's some chick and her goth boyfriend here to see you."

Loki and I share a glance. My mother opens the door. Then looks at me in shock.

"Sammy?"

I nod almost in tears. Her mood shifts if she had any affection for me it had gone as quickly as it had appeared.

"What are you doing here? You shouldn't be here."

"I...I..."

The rejection in her voice hits me hard even as I stand here holding Mjölnir in my hands I feel like that twelve year old girl again... worthless.

"Miss Howlett has come to retrieve some items she left here when she moved. I trust you will be kind enough to allow us to take them?"

Loki emphasizes the last name Howlett. I can tell he's pissed. He has a funny habit of getting more polite when he's pissed off. I give him a thankful look. My father comes to the door and looks at me with disgust.

"I thought I told you I never wanted to see your face again."

That sets Loki off. I put my arm out stopping him from getting up in my father's face or doing something worse. My father's red in the face, angry that I'm back. It takes everything I have to stop myself from crying. I can't decide if I'm more hurt or more angry. I take a deep breath.

"I'm just here for my records."

He lifts an eyebrow suspiciously at me. Loki meets his eyes challenging him.

"If you'll just give us the papers we require we will be on our way."

My father sighs relenting at Loki's piercing glare and nods slightly, the door slams closed and we stand in silence for several seconds. Then the door opens and he practically drops the papers on the ground. He goes to shut the door but I stop him with my foot.

"Wait! Please. Can I just talk to Mary?"

I look at him pleading.

"She doesn't want to see any of your kind. Get out of here before I call the cops mutie!"

He slams the door in my face. I can't help it I collapse to the ground in tears. 'Why can't they love me?' 'They used to love me.' 'What did I do wrong?!' I'm sobbing. Loki picks me and my papers off the ground and carries me away leaving Mjölnir sitting on my parents doorstep we get into a taxi and go back to his place.
