—-Sam—-

I had a mild nightmare last night. I woke up but quickly calmed down at the feeling of Loki's arm around me, holding onto me as he slept. I didn't wake him up, I don't remember what the dream was about even, just that it scared me. It doesn't hold the same power as other nightmares I've had. I hope that this means they're going away gradually and eventually I'll be rid of them completely.

Though I can't help but think of the fact that Loki still has nightmares about being tortured by Ebony Maw and Thanos, events that took place over eleven years ago. Part of me hopes that this is due to his physiology and mine won't last that long, but who am I kidding? I'm one of the few people who know that Logan still has nightmares from what Weapons Plus did to him decades ago. I'm probably going to struggle with this for the rest of my very long life.

I've woken up before Loki and just observe how peaceful he looks for a minute. I study the details of his face, not that I haven't before but, well, he's just really good looking. My eyes wander down his sleeping face taking in his full eyebrows, long eyelashes, defined cheekbones, and his lips that seem to have just a hint of a smile on them. I decided to wake him up then, my method being a kiss because damn, he's fucking stunning. He wakes up looking adorably confused for just a second then smiling at me mischievously.

"Well good morning to you too."

"It's about time Sleeping Beauty."

He looks slightly confused at my teasing. Note to self show this guy all the classic animated Disney movies. I explain myself.

"It's from a film... well originally a very old fairytale but that versions kinda fucked so we don't really talk about it."

He looks even more confused and I laugh.

"I'm surprised you don't know it actually, it's like really old but probably not as old as you. I don't really know though. I'm sorry I'm always making references to stuff you don't know. I'm sure you could do the same thing to me but you don't."

He smiles not responding to my rambling just looking at me.

"What?"

"I love you."

I feel myself blush.

"Love you too."

We proceed to get ready for the day then meet Mary in the living room. It's now 7:45 we don't have long left till we need to go. We eat a quick breakfast then head out. Mary doesn't take control over the aux cord when she gets in the car.

"So guys I was just thinking... I just wanna say thanks, thank you Sam for being here for me now and thank you Loki for being there for Sam."

I smile at this and see Loki looks a little emotional at her thanks as he drives.

"I'm going to miss you guys until next time. I'm being thrown into the middle of the school year at Xavier's school and I'm gonna be really busy trying to catch up. I'll see you guys on Thanksgiving then probably Christmas."

"Definitely Christmas."

It's been such a long time since I've celebrated Christmas. I get almost giddy with excitement thinking about it. Fuck it, now that she's mentioned it I'm gonna start playing Christmas music today. I'd usually try and wait till after Thanksgiving but this year is special for obvious reasons.

"I'm afraid I'm quite unfamiliar with these holidays I know of them of course as I've lived here for years, but I simply don't understand the obsession so many mortals have with them."

Mary quips at Loki's remark.

"Looks like someone's gonna have to learn the true meaning of Christmas."

I giggle I'll show him some holiday specials and movies and maybe I'll get him a copy of A Christmas Carol he'd get a better understanding of it then.

"I'm sure Reindeer Games will figure it out just fine."

He shoots me a glare annoyed I used that nickname. He despises it, maybe not as much as he had before Tony stopped being so judgmental but he's still irritated by it.

"What?"

That's right Mary doesn't know that's his nickname.

"That's what Tony calls him."

Mary fan girls a little.

"Tony Stark?!"

"No Tony Hawk."

I swear sarcasm is my secondary mutant ability.

"You get to work with Iron Man?! That's so cool!"

Loki huffs.

"I think you mean exhausting."

I laugh I couldn't think of a better way to describe dealing with that man's ego, not that Loki doesn't have one Tony's just hits different. Tony can be funny but he doesn't hesitate to get on everyone's nerves there's nothing calculated about it he'll annoy anyone he can. I don't know how Pepper deals with it.

"So his egos not just for the cameras?"

I laugh.

"Oh Mary, I think he actually tones it down for the cameras."

Loki agrees.

"Most definitely."

"So he's a jerk?"

Mary sounds a little disappointed.

"Ehhh not necessarily he's just constantly mildly irritating."

Loki nods agreeing with me.

"He's not all bad just a bit vexing."

I'm surprised Loki is actually defending Tony. Tony only has himself to thank for that, he's come around on Loki. I saw the way he looked at Loki with an air of hatred, when I first joined the Avengers but after we got together Tony stopped being an ass all the time.

"Huh, I thought you two would be at each others throats."

Loki chuckles.

"Oh trust me we've had our quarrels. With the way we met and all."

Mary giggles slightly.

"I'll bet, say what music should we play?"

Graciously she quickly changes the subject at Loki's mention of his past. That's a conversation I know he wouldn't want to have with her or really anyone.

"You choose, as long as it's not that song you played yesterday."

"Okie dokie!"

Soon the car is filled with the sounds of music by AJR, Panic! At The Disco, half•alive, and The Score. We talk about the music just as we had on the drive to Tønsberg. Before we know It we've arrived at the airport. We park then get out of the car. I don't hesitate to pull Mary into a hug before she leaves.

"Love you, I'll see you for Thanksgiving."

"Love you too."

I let go and Mary goes to pick up her bag but then seems to think of something. She hugs Loki. He doesn't know how to react at first just standing there but eventually he gingerly puts his hand on her back accepting it.

"Thank you again for everything. I'm glad Sam's with you, you two are good together."

She pulls away from him and he smiles fondly at her. It's clear he's got a soft spot for Mary much like he has for Peter. I'm so glad, I was worried about them getting along when she called but this whole experience had happily surprised me.

"Farewell miting."

She looks to both of us.

"Goodbye I better go so I can get through security on time."

Though I know it won't be for long I feel sad seeing her go.

"Goodbye."

Mary grabs her bag and heads into the airport.
