I finish talking with Quill and go sit by Loki again. I'm beginning to feel tired from our long day and we have about eleven more hours to kill I'm hoping there's somewhere we could crash for a few hours before we have to start talking about just how we're going to get the stone once we reach Vormir.
I don't like the thought of Thanos' daughters being here while we sleep but if we end up needing to fight when we get there then it would be wise for us to get sleep now. Loki looks at me a bit proudly as I take the seat between him and Thor.
"Hello darling it's nice to see you so sociable."
I smile.
"To be honest it's kinda worn me out."
He nods getting my hint he's probably tired too. He asks Quill about somewhere to sleep and he points us to a spare room. I thank him and we head that way down a corridor. I'm suddenly startled by a man I didn't see there before. It's the greenish grey alien from before, Drax, he's already physically intimidating and being startled by him makes the effect ten times worse.
I'm not sure what he wants and despite the overprotectiveness that I've been displaying today I'm startled enough by him that I find myself slightly behind Loki as if by reflex. He looks at Loki threateningly.
"You, you are not going to..."
He puts his finger to his throat dragging it across.
"Nebula or Gamora are you?!"
'Why do these people keep asking that question in that way?' I step in front of Loki I shake a little, my bravery faltering slightly because of his gender. Loki whispers to me.
"Just stay behind me mortal. I'll handle it."
Loki gently guides me back behind him not wanting me in harms way if this man doesn't listen to reason. I choose to listen to Loki's command. I'll step in if necessary but my sudden anxiety isn't leaving me in the best condition to intimidate Drax into leaving us alone. Loki speaks in his usual smooth way.
"I'm not here for revenge, the mad Titan is dead and that's enough. As for Gamora and her sister they aided the Guardians in his death and have therefore proven they no longer stand with him."
"So you hold no grudge towards them?"
He shakes his head.
"Not so much that I'm going to cause any bloodshed over it."
Drax looks skeptical for a moment and studies Loki in suspicion his eyes wander to me and he notices the look of anxiety I have.
"She is with you?"
Loki looks at him a bit warningly as he answers and speaks in a tone making it clear that any move against me might be a cause for bloodshed.
"Yes, she's my fiancée."
Drax looks between the two of us for a moment Loki looks at me in concern at my fearfulness and Drax seems to make up his mind.
"I see, you won't do anything to put your future bride in harms way."
He moves aside and let's us pass seeming to be deep in thought about something as we pass him. He actually looks a little sad about something. By his shift in mood when he realized we were together I can only assume he lost someone.
I slip my hand into Loki's as we near the room I can't imagine going through that, it would break me all over again. I'd be set all the way back to that scared cowering girl dying on the floor in S.H.I.E.L.D headquarters. That thought makes me hold him close when we lay down in the bed. I'm so thankful he's pulled through everything life's thrown at us as I fall asleep.
