Nothing makes sense my mind is filled with nothing but terror as I find myself back in that room. The heat is intensifying around me now. There's nothing they want from me but to break me, nothing I can do to stop what's about to happen. I see a figure approach me carrying a metal cylinder still glowing in heat from the fire it was pulled from. It's Proxima this is unusual but certainly not impossible.

She laughs and comes closer to me brandishing her chosen tool for my torture. Though I can't put a finger on it in my hopeless situation I find something in me giving me the will to fight back. I somehow successfully draw a dagger despite the Maw draining my magic. I attack.

"STOP! PLEASE LOKI STOP!"

That voice... it's coming from Proxima who I now have pinned against the wall with a dagger to her throat but that voice doesn't match... I know that voice. Suddenly the entire scene shifts around me the temperature is no longer suffocating me and the room... I'm... I'm in my home. Proxima Midnight changes into Sam. 'SAM?!' I quickly let go dropping my dagger to the floor.

"I'm sorry I... I'm sorry."

I look around the room to find Logan, Laura, Ororo, and Mary have come to see what's wrong. I feel tears coming, I've ruined everything now. Sam is saying something to me trying to reassure me but I can't hear her through my own thoughts. I need to get away. I'm a dangerous monster who doesn't belong anywhere near her.

"I'm sorry."

I start towards the door. If I can't even trust myself with her how is Logan supposed to? He can't and he shouldn't. I use my magic to get past them and leave not caring about a blizzard that must've started while we were sleeping I take off into the night.

—-Logan—-

I'm filled with rage at whatever just happened.

"What the fuck just happened?"

Sam looks shaken up by her altercation with Loki. I stupidly thought I could trust the guy.

"H-he has nightmares... violent ones. Is he-?"

Shit, I can't really be that angry with him after hearing this. I've done the exact same thing. I should've guessed that instead of assuming he meant to attack her, it's beyond clear from everything I've seen of them interacting that he'd never intentionally hurt her. She pushes past me and starts looking around the house like a madwoman. Opening both Kurt and Jubilee's bedroom doors and turning the lights on not caring about them still sleeping inside. She looks distraught by a realization.

"He left."

She's in tears. She goes over to a hall tree and begins putting winter gear on.

"I have to find him."

I grab her arm gently, stopping her from continuing.

"Sam no, it's freezing and there's no way you'd be able to track him down. Even if 'Ro stops the blizzard now the way it's been falling you wouldn't be able to track him."

She's crying more heavily now.

"But he needs to know everything's ok. He told me he didn't want to mess this up and now he's going to think he did. I need to tell him it's not a big deal."

'Not a big deal?!'

"He almost killed you kid."

"No he didn't, I could have called Mjölnir or used my abilities. I didn't want to scare him more."

She's right, I realize now that she had been in full control of the situation the entire time. I nod.

"I'll go after him."

"He's scared of you."

That doesn't seem like something Loki would want her to share with me but she's distraught. I honestly don't think she's thinking very clearly. I guide her over to the couch where their pet snake is currently coiled up in a ball.

"Please darlin' stay here. I'll find him, I'm not angry at em, it's freezing out there."

She looks like she's on the verge of an anxiety attack as she reluctantly sits down. She picks up the snake and holds onto it tightly. Mary and the rest are quick to comfort her but I know only one person can ease her fears and I gotta find him. I get dressed quickly. After Ororo calms the storm I walk out the door and I smell the air, I quickly catch his scent and begin tracking him.
