A Tale of Mischief and Mutants

This is madness! I have no clue what is going on. I gather that there's a history between the X-men and the man they're calling Magneto. Honestly I don't pay enough attention to Midgard's affaires to know. I'm sure that with an ability like his a stand off with him would have made the news.

I have no idea how Magneto managed to drag a paraplegic through the jungle and evade capture until Xavier starts to explain as we walk, Xavier being carried by Hank. We are on our way back to the throne room fighting through mutates as we go.

He explains that the device that was used to shut down mutant abilities had also temporarily reversed his paralysis. As I understand it Sinister can't be killed but can be stopped for significant periods of time. They all seem to be familiar with Sinister and how to fight him, I am out of my element nothing I did even left a scratch. Scott takes command of his team now using what I assume to be the team's field names.

"We need to stop Sinister and get the professor safely out of here. Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, and Beast I want you three to get him back to the plane. The rest of us will throw everything we have at Sinister we should be able to temporarily destroy him."

Xavier has a word with Magneto before they leave.

"It's not too late to join me Erik. We worked well together."

"I'm sorry Charles but in honesty our paths diverged a long time ago."

The professor looks hurt and I can't help but think back to the talk Thor and I had on the elevator back on Sakaar. I had wanted him to try to talk me into going back to Asgard with him but he hadn't which lead me to betraying him again, I couldn't just let him leave me. Couldn't let him go on his suicide mission to try and take on our sister.

So I attempted to betray him again knowing life as a gladiator for the Grandmaster was far safer for him than facing Hela, but he had grown too smart for that. I was pushed into finally doing something right by his words: 'you'll always be the god of Mischief but you could be so much more' and returned to Asgard to help him.

"Then I guess this is goodbye"

Magneto looks sad too.

"For now. So long old friend."

Hank, Kitty, and Kurt quickly leave with Xavier in tow. Scott looks at those of us still here.

"Medic we need him distracted to get a good shot at him give him everything you got and pin him down with the hammer but when I say move get out of the way as soon as possible"

Sam nods and smiles a bit in what I assume to be nostalgia. 'Medic'? That's Sam's 'superhero name'? I guess it's fitting with her abilities. In short Scott tells the rest of us to hit Sinister with everything we have when we have a clear shot and his signal. We get to work on the plan. Laura and Logan are keeping the mutates out of the way as we get a clear shot. Finally we're all in position.

"Ok Medic move!"

Sam jumps off of Sinister as Scott gives us the signal to do our worst to Sinister. Sinister is eventually diminished to nothing but ash. I look down at the soot left on the floor and move it a bit with my boot. He looks pretty dead.

"He'll come back from that?"

"Yes."

Scott turns to Ka-Zar. There had been no sign of Sauron and Ka-Zar had told us they could deal with him themselves whenever he rears his head again.

"You're sure you can handle Sauron on your own when he returns?"

"Yes and if we can't the cheery brightly clothed girl gave me a device to contact you again my friends."

We say goodby and are thanked by the locals as we leave. They aren't wary of me at all. I'm unused to the positive attention. I feel a smile form on my face. I'm soaking it up. Sam looks at me I'm sure I have a big stupid grin on my face but I can't be bothered to get rid of it. She laughs.

We all head back in the direction of the Blackbird. We part ways with Magneto when we reach the top of the cliff (I'm guessing he'll be using his abilities on the crashed planes present here to leave) and we all make our way into the Blackbird.
