A Tale of Mischief and Mutants

The Power Stone

As we fight our way to where the Power Stone is being kept among the quips and movie references he's rattling off Peter complains.

"Doctor Strange why can't you just do that orange circle thingy and get us in there?"

Strange rolls his eyes that's not how Sling Rings work.

"You think if I could do that we would've wasted a day traveling by ship? Either myself or someone traveling with me who I trust has to be somehow familiar with the location for me to travel there."

"Oh..."

We eventually get in the security isn't as heavy in here as it was outside of the base and we're in a room containing a vault of sorts that is guarded by an energy shield of some kind. Tony gets to work trying to disable it. Peter suddenly looks around in concern at something then looks to the team.

"Let me just say, if aliens wind up implanting eggs in my chest or something and I eat one of you, I'm sorry."

Tony groans at Peter's movie reference.

"I do not want another single pop culture reference outta you for the rest of the trip you understand?"

"I'm just trying to say something is coming."

Suddenly we're attacked by an odd looking group of people I observe them all as we fight. 'Is that a fucking raccoon?!' A buglike female alien being attacks Peter and I run to help him.

"WhoahWhoahWhoah!! Please don't put your eggs in me!!!"

I begin fighting the female alien I decide Mjölnir would be overkill in such an enclosed space I clip it to my belt and begin fighting her hand to hand. I'm unable to make direct skin contact because of her blocking my punches. Eventually Natasha joins me and I have a spare moment to survey the battle.

Tony is fighting a masked alien using some kind of gun and a gravity manipulating device. Clint, Strange, and Pepper are fighting a treelike creature and the raccoon I saw earlier which by the way is terrifyingly firing a gun twice it's size. Steve and Bucky are fighting a green female alien wielding a sword while Thor and Loki are fighting a blue female alien who seems to have cybernetic enhancements. There's also a greenish grey shirtless alien with red markings currently flailing around fighting Strange's cloak.

"DIE BLANKET OF DEATH!!"

We keep fighting but eventually the alien in the mask gets a hold of Peter and raises a weapon to his head we all stop fighting almost immediately. Nobody wants to risk Peter dying.

"EVERYBODY STAY WHERE YOU ARE CHILL THE EFF OUT!"

I drop the dagger I had in my hand to attack the bug lady with. It falls to the floor with a clang and I raise my hands non threateningly there's no way I'm risking Peter's safety. The strange people raise their weapons threateningly at us. The alien removes the mask revealing his face.

"I'm gonna ask you this one time who sent you?"

Tony answers.

"No one sent us. We need the stone."

"Tell me who sent you or I swear to you I'm gonna french fry this little freak."

Loki appears behind the green alien and holds a dagger to her throat.

"Ah but if you do that my hand may slip."

His duplication cast that was standing a few feet away fades just as he appears. It never ceases to amaze me how real those duplicates look. I'm somewhat relieved he's done this that means we have some level of leverage now, before we were kinda helpless if they decided to kill Peter.
