A Tale of Mischief and Mutants

As we're being lead through the jungle at gunpoint I can see that Scott is fuming. He truly believes that Loki has betrayed us. I glare at him the others got the message I nonverbally communicated about following his plan. It's clear Scott would not have gone with this plan if he didn't feel that Storm, Kitty, and Jubilee would be killed if he didn't.

Loki's smart if he doesn't already have a plan for our escape he'll think of one. He's good at strategy. I hear him flirting with the woman near the back of the group and feel a pang of jealousy. This is apart of his strategy I remind myself.

They continue talking as we walk for another twenty minutes. He's gaining her trust I hear her laugh. That makes me mad for some reason. I've never been a jealous girlfriend before but Loki's different.

Suddenly a man comes crashing through the jungle followed by, I shit you not, a sabertooth tiger. The people with the guns are distracted we quickly disarm them. We take down some of them as we make our escape into the jungle.

Loki comes running after us a second later and I breath a sigh of relief. We all look around unsure of what to do now. 'Which way should we run?' The man from before comes running past us.

"Follow me! Any enemies of Sauron and his allies are my friends!"

'Who the fuck is Sauron?' Oh well, following this guy is probably a safer course of action than standing around unsure of what to do. We all must come to that conclusion because we're all on his tail. Eventually we hear our pursuers seem to give up.

The strange man who is wearing no more than a loincloth slows down as we come across what I can only assume to be his camp. I go to Loki's side once we stop. Scott looks at me and I can tell he's about to say something nasty. Luckily before Scott opens his stupid mouth, Logan who evidentially has run out of patience with our current scenario walks up to the man and unsheathes his claws.

This distracts Scott from the threat he perceives Loki to be. I wince thinking of how painful that must be. Logan can't heal himself at the moment and had popped them previously when those people first showed up so he was ripping through wounded flesh. I feel an urge to make it better as I see his front falter for a second and see how much pain he's in. It hurts that I can't help him.

"You wanna let us in on exactly what's goin' on here nature boy?"

The sabertooth tiger growls at Logan as he threatens the man.

"Stop now Zabu." The man calls the sabertooth off. "I am Ka-Zar this land is my home."

Scott speaks up next.

"So what exactly was all that about back there?"

"The mutates, lead by Sauron and one of his allies have, captured, imprisoned, and enslaved everyone living here but me. ...they have my wife. "

Logan satisfied with Ka-Zar's answers puts the claws away, once again grimacing from the pain. My heart aches to see someone I love in pain. Rogue is visibly upset by what Ka-Zar has said. She puts a hand on his shoulder.

"We can help ya get her back."

Scott objects sounding a bit harsh.

"That's not the mission."

Everyone shoots Scott a glare. Laura looks at him angrily.

"None of this was the mission Scott!"

Scott looks around for someone to be on his side. Hank shrugs at him apologetically.

"The mission has changed my friend. The professor would want us to help these people. We can look for the professor and solve the crisis here."

Gambit nods in agreement.

"It seem to turn out things like this end up being connected anyway no?"

Hank looks at him thankful to have someone backing him up.

"Indeed perhaps the professor has been taken captive by this Sauron as well."

Ka-Zar looks at us all in uncertainty.

"So you will help me get Shanna back?"

"Of course we will."

Ka-Zar looks at Loki thankfully. Everyone is surprised at Loki, everyone but me. Scott looks utterly stunned, I shoot him a look as if to say 'see asshole?' Ka-Zar begins telling us the layout of Sauron's Citadel and the Savage Land as a whole. We spend the day planning and settle in for another night in the Savage Land.
