Midgardian Customs

As I drive Sam and I home, the car filled with the sound of music from her phone, I start to think of a topic that's never crossed my mind. A topic that had anyone told me a year ago I'd be even considering I'd've laughed, Midgardian marriage customs. I don't know why I'm suddenly so sure about it but I want to make things set in stone with Sam.

I just hope I wouldn't be moving too fast although I suppose she has told me she wants to stay, we say I love you regularly, and well what more reason do I need? Should I talk to Sam about this or is it like customs in Asgard where I'm to surprise her with my request? Until I know it may be best if I keep quiet about it. I will research the topic further at a time where Sam isn't present. Perhaps I'll have time to this afternoon if she decides to spend the day on video games. Sam looks from the window over at me.

"I can see gears turning, what's going on in there?"

And here it is this may be the first intentional lie I've told to Sam. She's too perceptive for me to be pondering this right now so I must be convincing.

"I'm thinking of Mary, I think she trusts me."

Though that hadn't been what my thoughts were consumed with when she asked, that revelation had been running through my thoughts as well. So it wasn't fully untrue making it the most convincing kind of lie. Sam nods not suspicious at all.

"She does, she adores you!"

"Not as much as she does Thor."

Sam shakes her head.

"She's star struck by Thor she hardly knows him. She's closer with you, I honestly think if she had a problem and she had to choose between the two of you she wouldn't think twice to go to you."

"Honestly?"

"Honestly."

I smile at this. I've never been the favorite. It's a nice thought... a thought that is interrupted by my telephone alerting me of a message. Since I am driving Sam grabs it and looks at the message.

"What is it?"

"It's from Tony it says 'need you and your girlfriend for a mission by noon'."

I sigh there go my plans to subtly persuade Sam into spending the day with Thor playing the second part of her game so I can research marriage customs.

"Ask him what it's about."

"Kay."

I can hear her typing and sending then after a pause the sound of a reply.

"There's a magic user in New York wanting to take over the planet, you know, the usual. Only interesting thing is they think she's Asgardian."

"Why?"

That's quite the accusation. I can't imagine any of our people causing trouble we're lucky to have Midgard to call home. Most of the Asgardians are just happy to be alive. Sam senses my offense at the claim.

"I don't know. Why don't we just get over there and get all the details?"

I sigh calming myself down.

"Alright."

When we get back we quickly change into our armor. We rarely ever stick to the same armor from mission to mission today were sporting a somewhat similar armor that combines elements of Sakaarian, Asgardian, and Midgardian styles. I stop for a moment upon seeing Sam in hers. She smiles at this then studies my armor in the same way.

"Hmm there's a problem with your armor."

I frown I'm a bit annoyed I feel my armor is nearly perfect.

"What?"

She smiles mischievously and circles behind me holding the cape up a bit.

"Don't get me wrong I love capes but this one's blocking my view."

'What the Hel is she talking about?' I turn around and look at her in confusion for a second. Then it suddenly hits me I feel my cheeks grow warm. On Asgard most women didn't flirt in this way, leaving me ill equipped to deal with her remark. Not that I had often been the subject of such affections but I had watched women flirt with my brother enough times to know how to deal with that. Luckily I'm silver tongued. I quickly recover with a smirk of my own.

"I could say the same about yours."

"Oh I wear it for everyone's protection we can't have you distracted by my ass during the mission you're one of our powerhouses."

Though she's teasing I can't say that idea is unwise. It doesn't seem to matter what she wears though, I still always find myself a bit distracted.

"My dear it doesn't matter what you wear you look ravishing in everything. Honestly you're a danger to the mission."

She laughs and strikes a pose that only manages to make her look sexier.

"Deal with it."

"A man can only do so much mortal."

She giggles and pulls me down into a kiss her hands move down my chest and towards my back continuing down. As our lips continue to dance against each other's I let out a breath of surprise as I realize exactly where her hands are going going. Sam is ready to take a small step forward when it comes to this kind of intimate contact.

I somewhat copy her movements prepared to stop at the slightest objection if she feels uncomfortable. When my hands reach their destination she moves her hands back up and pulls me even closer to herself. I don't know how long we stay like this simply enjoying each other but Sam eventually pulls away with a smile.

"I'm sorry it's almost noon we better get going."

I feign a scowl which makes her laugh.

"We can pick this back up later."

I smile at this as we walk out the door to go meet up with Thor.
