When Samantha a mutant and X-man is rescued from her captors by S.H.I.E.L.D she finds comfort from an unlikely source. This story follows the relationship between my OC Samantha Howlett and everyone's favorite Jotun Loki Odinson. This is an AU where...
I wake up to see Sam is already up. I hear the television on in the other room. I get up, when I put pressure on my arm I have to suppress a shout of pain. I think the bone is fractured I can't let Sam know how bad it really is she'll take it back even against my wishes. She's both too stubborn and selfless not to. I neither want her to feel the pain I'm feeling nor would it make any sense for her to take it my body will heal it faster than her's is capable of.
I go into the other room standing in the doorway. Sam and Mary are already up and dressed they're seated on the couch and are watching something on the television as if last night hadn't even happened. There are two men seated at a table on the screen.

—> Man 1: what do you think happened?
Man 2: I'm gonna go archons razor on this one and just assume that he rocketed into the ground a little juxtaposition of him being on the plane being like 'I'll have a bourbon' and then two hours layer 'aAaahHhhhh!'
Man 1: After all these years people are still transfixed on the identity of the cunning crook known as D.B. Cooper but for now, and perhaps forever the case of D.B. Cooper will remain unsolved.
<—-
I chuckle slightly to myself remembering my lost bet to Thor. Indeed it will. I ask Sam about what show this is curious as to what show is covering one of my mischievous exploits.
"What is this?
Sam smiles.
"Buzzfeed Unsolved, Mary's never seen it so I'm showing her some old episodes. I know you've seen a few episodes with Peter and I."
'Had I?' I honestly don't know it's hard to keep track of all the shows they watch. The next episode starts and I sit down with them. I'm glad Sam is feeling better than she had last night. I watch for a while the shows Sam and Peter watched together are fairly entertaining and I'm still tired from waking up.
—> Man 1: 'This week on Buzzfeed Unsolved we take a look at the strange disappearance of Peter Quill.'
Man 2: 'Ooh I've heard about this.'
Man 1: 'You seem excited.'
Man 2: 'Yes I am. This one's a doozy.'
Man 1: 'Then I guess I'll get into it, this is a case that's baffled many for over thirty years. In summary this case proves that sometimes the clues to solve a case just aren't there. The Missouri boy lived with his single mother Meredith Quill. Peter's father has never been identified. In 1988 Meredith died from brain cancer. Immediately following his mother's death eight year old Peter Quill ran out of the hospital in tears and vanished into the night without a trace. There are many theories ranging from the mundane to the bizarre that try to explain the disappearance of the boy and the strange events surrounding it. In this episode we will cover a few of them...' <—
We sit and watch for a while though it's interesting, I decide I'm hungry and I go to the kitchen to get something. By the time I return the episode is finishing up.
—> Man 1: 'Now on to my final theory, that Peter Quill was kidnapped by aliens.'
Man 2: 'I don't even want to talk about it.'
Man 1: 'Why?'
Man 2: ''Cause it's stupid.'
Man 1: 'Is it completely impossible that it happened?'
Man 2: 'No. 'Cause I actually do you know - look. We all saw the news during the battle of New York. Aliens are a lot more probable than ghosts.' <—
The man who proposed it goes on to explain his theory citing evidence they continue to banter then eventually wrap up the show. Sam must decide that's enough of this show for the day and turns it off.
"We should head out to town in a little bit to show Mary around."
I nod then head into the bedroom to change knowing she's hinting I should probably get ready for the day.
———————————————————————
Eventually we head out. It's a nice day, unusual for November in Norway in a typical year it would be freezing by now. We begin by showing Mary the sights of Tønsberg I showed to Sam when she arrived here. Mary takes everything in with a sense of wonder.
I can tell that, unlike Sam, she's unaccustomed to anything outside of what I assume was a mundane lifestyle with her parents. We're in the middle of town and Mary's taking in some Asgardian architecture with decorative designs that was constructed after we moved here.
"This place is beautiful!!"
I smirk she's quite amusing and adorable in a child like way.
"You should have seen the old Asgard."
Asgard would have blown her away with its golden streets and marble statues. Mary would have been in awe. Mary looks at me sadly likely recalling the fact that Asgard had been destroyed.
"I wish I could've judging from what I see here I'll bet it was the most beautiful place in the galaxy!"
"Indeed it was."
I'm hit with a sudden homesickness. I'm filled with a sadness that Sam of course picks up on. She takes my hand, she's too wonderful. I manage a smile to ease her worry over me. She smiles back and leans on me. Luckily hanging on my uninjured arm. I wouldn't be able to hide my pain from Sam if she was hanging on that one.
"We should introduce her to Thor."
I nod they will probably get along quite well. This is good as they'll be seeing eachother a lot if Mary wants to make her visits a more regular occurrence. Mary looks at us excitedly and nervously.
"Wait are you guys for real?! I assumed he'd be busy."
"It's a small country there's not a whole lot he needs to do."
I explain to Mary who looks giddy. Of course she is. What Midgardian woman or girl doesn't love my charming brother? I roll my eyes in annoyance. Sam looks at me and shakes her head in disapproval at my eye roll. She smiles then teases me.
"Pretentious brat."
I smirk I love her. I love that she never fears teasing me, that she's not afraid like so many are. I pull her into a hug ignoring the pain in my arm. I think of how upset she was last night. I wish I could somehow protect her from those dreams and the memories that haunt her. I tease her back.
"Pathetic mortal."
She giggles slightly. We both know that statement is far from reality. She kisses me on the cheek.
"You two are so weird."
Sam pulls away, turns to her sister, and laughs at her blunt statement.
"Oh Mary you have no idea."
Mary laughs.
"I'm sure."
Now Mary's even teasing me. Granted she had been addressing both of us but her fear that had been painfully obvious yesterday seemed to be gone today. She beams at me with excitement and I return a smile. We start walking in the direction of Thor's house.
