As we step through the portal back into the house I let my front fall. I don't need to look strong for anyone now. With everything going on and the future uncertain my anxiety threatens to rear its ugly head in the form of an attack. Without words I walk up to Loki and just rest my head on his chest leaning into him heavily.

He gets the message I just want to be held right now. I want to somehow feel some safety despite the impending doom that's on its way. He guides me over to the bed and holds me stroking my hair as I burry my face deep into his chest trying to forget everything that happened today. He whispers quietly in a tone I only ever hear him use with me.

"It's alright love."

'Is it?' We seem pretty screwed. If we're unable to get those stones I'll loose everything I know. I don't answer I feel myself start to shake slightly, telling him I don't believe his words. He pulls away slightly so he can see my face he puts a hand on my cheek.

"Even if this fails I will do everything in my power to keep you and the ones you care about safe."

I don't believe he can do all that much but I know he's scared too. He's already lost one home and the possibility of loosing this one has to be terrifying he needs me to trust him right now. He needs me to believe he can fix it. I nod and I can feel some tension he had release from him thinking he's eased my fear. He holds me as we shift into a laying position we both change into sleeping clothes.

He continues to comfort me softly moving his hand over my head then resting his hand at my neck. Something I've picked up is a affectionate gesture in Asgard's culture having seen Thor do this to Loki, mothers do it to their children, and Valkyrie do this to Sif. It's similar to holding someone's hand or hugging them. He speaks softly in that same tone.

"We need rest."

I nod though I don't think I'll be getting any sleep tonight. That doesn't mean he needs to stay up worrying about me. I close my eyes not opening them until I feel a kiss on my forehead and Loki settle in beside me.
