—-Sam—-

While Bruce has been working with some equipment to carefully add the last two stones to the gauntlet some additional members of the team have shown up to bear witness to the event including Scott Lang, Sam Wilson, and Rhodey. Pepper takes Rhodey aside for a moment and I can see the news hits him hard. He punches the wall in frustration at the loss of his friend.

There's also some chick in red and blue sporting a Karen haircut. 'Is she the backup Fury called for?' I have to say I'm not really in the mood to care or question it. According to what Gamora had said during our time on the ship it seemed like the best way to use the stones was with a literal snap of the fingers.

'But who's going to do it?' Steve shares this information with Bruce as he's the expert on gamma radiation which is probably the most dangerous thing about the stones for the user. He thinks for a moment as he looks over the group of Avengers that are here he finally seems to settle on an answer.

"It's gotta be me, none of you could survive."

Steve looks at him in concern.

"How do we know you will?"

Bruce shrugs a bit solemnly

"We don't, but the radiation's mostly gamma. it's like... I was made for this."

The 'Karen' shrugs.

"I could do it."

Rhodey looks at her exasperated he has no patience for her just showing up out of nowhere and calling Bruce's decisions into question. Not today, not after loosing his best friend.

"Hey, new girl, everyone here is about that superhero life. And if you don't mind my asking, where the hell have you been all this time?"

She turns to him slightly apologetically.

"There are a lot of other planets in the universe. And unfortunately, they didn't have you guys."

Rhodey nods. She definitely does have a point if other planets have faced the same things we have without the Avengers it was definitely a good thing she had been there.

"That's fair, all the same I think we've all gotta trust Banner on this one he's kind of the expert on being blasted with gamma radiation."

'Karen' nods relenting. Bruce takes the gauntlet and it expands to fit his hand. He examines it seeming to check for anything wrong with it that could jeopardize the minuet level of safety it will provide against the radiation. Nat looks at him in concern.

"Good to go?"

"Yeah. Let's do it."

Everyone shields themselves in some way. Loki throws up a shield for himself me Thor and Nat. Strange also makes a shield covering for anyone else who doesn't have some sort of protection. Pepper sees we're all ready.

"Friday please activate barn door protocol."

"Yes, Mrs. Stark."

Steel slabs roll down covering the doors and windows. Bruce looks around the room nervously.

"Here we go."

Bruce puts the gauntlet on and he falls to his knees seeming to be almost overcome by pain. Scott seems to panic a little at the situation understanding the danger Bruce is in.

"Get it off of him!"

Steve holds up a hand before anyone can react.

"No wait, Bruce are you okay?"

Bruce doesn't answer for a second seeming to be overwhelmed by the pain. Thor looks really concerned having already lost one friend today.

"Bruce?"

Bruce manages to pull himself together.

"Yeah I'm ok... I'm ok."

Thor awkwardly thumbs up at him seeming somewhat relieved by the answer. Bruce is groaning in pain now, the power syphoning into Bruce's arm seems to intensify as he moves his hand to snap his fingers.

*snap*

Bruce falls to the floor. I'm suddenly filled with intense anxiety. 'I can't loose another friend today!'

"Bruce!"

I step forward Loki grabs me by my arm likely fearing I'll react on instinct and heal him. The other Avengers make a move towards Bruce. The gauntlet fell off his hand and Scott kicks it away from Bruce seeming to somehow think that will help. Steve instructs everyone.

"Don't move him!"

Pepper sprays his burnt arm with something that looks like the stuff that comes out of a fire extinguisher. Bruce's eyes open and I silently rejoice. He looks around at the group.

"Did it work?"

The barn door protocol is lifted by Pepper and the steel covering the windows starts returning to where it came from Loki approaches the window not yet having a good view of the world outside.

"We're not sure..."

I watch as finally the steel slab retreats enough to see the sky. Galactus is still there but something's happening. His form begins to almost fade away. I can see dust like fragments falling off of him. This continues for several seconds. The sky is gradually returning to normal. I watch as he continues to fade to dust until I blink and he's completely gone the sky is blue and it's a beautiful day. I sigh in relief joining Loki at the window in silence. I take his hand in mine we're safe.
