Shortly after we step out of the room the audio system in the ship begins playing a song. I actually recognize it. I believe it's called Dancing in the Moonlight it's from the 60's I think. I'm surprised to hear Earth music on the ship but I suppose Quill did have a backpack on him when he disappeared and he might've had something to play music with him when he was abducted. The music helps to put my nerves at ease even as Gamora and Nebula join us. Gamora speaks first I can tell she's used to being the more vocal of the two.
"You wanted to talk?"
Loki nods slightly. I take his arm knowing he's likely anxious.
"Your goals are no longer his?"
"Yes we're done with that madness, at the moment our only goal is getting you to the stone."
Loki nods. Gamora looks like she wants to say more so I stop looking at her so she doesn't see me as a threat.
"I... I despised it... everything he did when I was there."
Loki suddenly finds the floor very interesting. He speaks so quietly I can barely hear it standing beside him.
"You never showed it."
"I know... I'm sorry. I know that doesn't even touch it but I still think you should know I am."
Loki nods. Gamora also now finds the floor interesting. Nebula observes both of us silently. She sees my hand and looks to Gamora.
"She has one too."
Gamora looks to her sister puzzled.
"The jewelry on her hand it's like what Peter gave you."
Gamora looks to my hand and also spots my ring she looks to Loki and sees the ring on his finger. She holds up her hand showing us her ring which features an odd seemingly incandescent gemstone I'm almost sure is a mineral unknown to our periodic table.
"Peter told me on Terra it's a symbol of belonging to someone you love, You've found someone?"
Loki looks a little taken aback by her asking that sort of question.
"Yes."
She smiles slightly.
"I'm glad for you... you deserve that."
Just then Quill comes into the room singing along with the song. He smiles seeing Gamora and takes her hand spinning her with the music, as he does this I spot a plain silver ring on his finger. Gamora laughs slightly looking embarrassed. Then scolds him.
"Peter now's not a good time."
He rolls his eyes.
"Is it ever for you?"
She smiles failing to remain sour with him.
"I suppose not."
"So how do you know the rockstar?"
I smile slightly I guess Loki's whole getup is a little reminiscent of a singer in an 80's rock band with the leather and long hair. Gamora looks at Quill sadly.
"My father found him when he was almost dead, he wanted to use him to retrieve the Space Stone from Terra."
His smile fades as he likely knows what that would have entailed for Loki.
"And he's not gonna...?"
Quill takes his finger sliding it across his neck Gamora giggles slightly seemingly in nostalgia.
"I don't think so Peter."
Quill glances over at Loki worriedly. Loki lifts his hands non defensively.
"I didn't come all this way for senseless bloodshed."
Quill nods still looking at Loki with an expression as nervous as I feel about Gamora and Nebula. Right then the song changes to September and I can't help but smile it's not often I hear this song anymore and it's a favorite of mine. Quill sees my expression and lets his own relax.
"I love this song."
"Me too."
The music seems to somehow break the tension in the air. Quill and I begin talking and Loki and Gamora seem to relax seeing us at ease they say nothing to each other but I see the smallest hint of a smile cross Loki's features as I ask Quill if I could show him any music.
