A Tale of Mischief and Mutants

We stand in the forest watching Sam and Loki from a distance. I don't know what to do about this guy. Sam seems to trust him and the other X-men have followed suit. Even Logan who is usually the hardest to win over has rushed to defend the guy.

Has everyone else forgotten what he did? Manipulated or not he is capable of horrendous things. I see that Sam and Loki have gained the attention of the mutates who swoop down on pterodactyls and begin questioning him.

"Alright it's time to move."

We make our way into the citadel easily the mutates are focused on Loki. As no one is around we make small talk as we search. Beast marvels at how nonchalant Loki seemed when he approached the citadel.

"You have to give our new friend credit. He's a excellent strategist and confidence man."

"He's not our friend and we better hope we're not the ones being conned."

Rogue looks at me annoyed.

"Wouldya cut the guy some slack? You've been mean as all get out an' he's been nothin' but helpful."

The others nod in agreement.

"Gambit think Loki's ok."

I roll my eyes of course the former thief would.

"Of course you would."

Gambit looks at me angrily.

"What is dat supposed t' mean?"

The whole group looks at me in anger now.

"Bub you need to stop this shit!"

Short of popping the claws Logan looks ready to fight here and now. Laura steps into my line of sight.

"All of us have made mistakes some of us made big ones and Loki's no different."

She looks just as ready to fight me as her father is. I think about how both Logan and herself were used as weapons, how Rogue once worked with the brotherhood, and how Remy used to be a thief. I see the point their trying to make but it just seems different I mean he's the literal god of lies. I try to argue.

"But you were forced and manipulated t-"

Laura cuts me off.

"I've read S.H.I.E.L.D's files. So was he."

"You all honestly believe that?"

I look around the group. Some nod others just stare me down challengingly. Laura crosses her arms.

"If you can't be civil with him then you have no business being on a team with me."

I think for a moment about what Laura is saying this guy killed people but so had she. Maybe I have been a little harsh.

"...I'll try."

She nods satisfied with that for now. We come across a big computer.

"This must be it."

Gambit mischievously smiles at Rogue.

"Before I can't no more."

He kisses her passionately. Then pulls away with a smirk. Beast gets on the computer and begins searching through its programming. I put my ruby quartz glasses on. Logan rolls his eyes at Hank then looks around for a chord to pull then when he doesn't find one he pops the claws and destroys the thing.

"Sorry furball no time, Sam's facing who knows what without her abilities right now."

He retracts his claws his hand heals itself proving the destruction of the machine had worked. We quickly leave the area knowing the machine's destruction won't go unnoticed for long.
