"So you'll help me get Shanna back?"
Ka-Zar sounds broken by his current situation. I think back to finding Sam gone that day.
"Of course we will."
The words are out of my mouth before I even realize I'm speaking them. The X-men look surprised at me Sam shoots Scott a glare then a smile at me. I smile back. We spend the remainder of the day planning.
Ka-Zar's camp offers a bit more light in the darkness of the night and protection from the forest so Sam isn't as afraid tonight. The added light also means everyone can see our sleeping situation. As we settle in I look around the campsite Rogue and Gambit are notably absent but I have some idea of what they could be doing.
I can't blame them as such opportunities must be rare with Rogue's abilities. Everyone else is minding their own business everyone but Scott who is staring daggers at me as I lay down with Sam. Sam was correct Scott is 'an ass'.

The next morning we prepare to carry out the plan we formulated yesterday. The others change clothes using what Ka-Zar has on hand. Sam calls Mjölnir from where she left it sitting yesterday and we change into something different using magic. The clothes we all wear now are better suited for the tropical environment. Rogue is now showing a lot of skin her spouse Gambit is staring in utter awe.
He catches me looking at him. I give him a knowing look (I often do the same thing when I see Sam in new clothing) and he smiles. We head out towards the citadel as I concluded that this was the most likely place for prisoners to be kept. It also makes sense with the direction we were heading with the mutates. As we're walking we happen across a rather large green snake. Jubilee recoils from it hiding behind Logan.
"Ewwww somebody get that thing out of here!!"
Ka-Zar looks at Jubilee then back to the snake in confusion.
"What this?"
To Jubilee's horror Ka-Zar nonchalantly picks up the snake and lets it wrap itself around him he pets it beneath its chin.
"We call them Softhearted Serpents. They're not aggressive. In fact many children keep them as pets. Though they are venomous there have been no incidents of them biting people other than to protect their owner."
The snake looks at the group almost curiously then seems to land it's gaze on me. It slithers ahead away from Ka-Zar in my direction. Ka-Zar smiles at me.
"She likes you!"
I lift an eyebrow. 'It likes me?' I cautiously hold my hand out towards the snake and it slithers it's way onto me wrapping itself around my arm and loosely around my neck. Sam smiles at this.
"It suits you."
Jubilee comes out from behind Logan.
"I still think it's gross."
"We need to get moving."
Scott sounds annoyed. I decide to let the snake ride along taking it off would bring the same feeling of standing up once a cat has made itself comfortable on your lap.
