Brooklyn~
"Oh my god. Is he about to do it? Is he about to hit for the cycle in Game 7 of the NLCS?" I ask Ryan and watch as the ball flies into deep right field.
"Go, go, go," we both say and stand up to watch as Christian rounds second and sprints toward third. Christian slides into third seconds before the ball comes into the third baseman's glove and is immediately called safe.
"Holy shit, no fucking way," I say and hold my hand over my mouth and watch as he stands up and listens to the cheers coming from the fans at Miller Park.
It was currently the bottom of the 8th and Christian pushed us over by 2 against the Padres. The energy in the stadium is actually insane. Christian makes his way back home making the score 7-4. Christian grabs his glove and heads back to the outfield. Three more outs and they head to the World Series. I look up and see every single person on their feet.
Two more outs. Devin throws the ball straight down the middle. Oh god, one more out.
"I can't look," I whisper and put my hands over my eyes. The crowd goes silent. I look up and see Christian tracking the ball down back to the wall. He jumps up and reaches behind the wall and lands back on his feet. He holds his glove in the air and we can all see the ball.
Oh. My. God.
Every single Brewer fan at Miller Park is on their feet, hugging, crying, screaming at the top of their lungs while all of the guys are piling in the outfield. I run out and see Christian with tears in his eyes. I jump into his arms and kiss him passionately. I don't even care that this could be the most public place ever. My man just hit the cycle and got the winning out for the Brewers to advance to the World Series. "I am so incredibly proud of you," I say as we get splashed with the Gatorade bucket, "Ahhh," we both say and laugh and stand back watching the guys enjoy this incredibly special moment.
"You did it. You're going to the World Series and you get to bring the City of Milwaukee and the State of Wisconsin with you."
"Hey, I couldn't have done it without your support. Also, you are going to the World Series, don't forget that," he says while looking into my eyes and grabbing the sides of my face gently. "I won't," I say and get lost in the moment with him.
Soon the party moved into the clubhouse, plastic wrap covered the cubby's, shirts are handed out, and bottles of champagne and beer cans roam the room. Christian hands me a bottle of champagne and we wait for the signal to open it. "3... 2... 1..."
"Pop," soon all champagne bottles were fizzing and being sprayed all around. I definitely never thought I would experience this. Christian brings me in for a kiss. I savor the moment before none other than Ryan Braun comes over and starts to spray us with his bottle. Christian tries his best to shield me, but honestly, I don't care. At this point, I've had Gatorade dumped on me, and now champagne sprayed all over me. Christian lets go of me and he and Ryan give each other a "bro hug."
I hug Ryan, "Took you long enough to get here. I'm so proud of you. You deserve this and I am so glad you chose to stay in Milwaukee. Congrats, Brauny," I say and let go of him with tears forming in my eyes.
"Brooklyn, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else," he looks toward Christian, "Let's go win this thing and get you some more hardware," he says and we both smile brightly.
"Let's do it," Christian says wrapping his arm around my waist.
The first two games were here in Milwaukee, at Miller Park, with the whole state watching the Brewers. The Brewers were facing New York Yankees, and they were good but not as good as us. We were a winning team. Every single guy on this team wants this so badly. We got the taste in 2018 and we didn't want anything else. We wanted to win. So many emotions ran through us leading up to Game 1 of the World Series. Christian's family flew in, and my family came and watched too. They were finally able to meet and they got along so well. Alecia and my mom bonded over cooking and they continuously shared stories from when we were little and compared Christian and me together.
