Brooklyn~
The past few weeks have been flying by. The guys were winning. I was doing amazing. This weight had been lifted off of my chest and I can finally allow myself to let go of the past. I think everyone could tell there was a difference in me, a good difference nonetheless. I was excelling at my work and living life. We were back in Milwaukee for about a week before we head to Miami and Atlanta.
I stand in my office waiting for some of the guys to come in when I see Christian walk in with a smile on his face. He sees me and goes to sit on one of the benches. "What are you smiling about?" I ask bringing over some extra tape rolls and stocking the cabinet before I go to him.
"Nothing. I just feel really good today," he says, and I smile.
Ryan comes in carrying Carter and catches my eye. I smile and hold out my hands. This kid is so freaking cute. This kid gives me so much serotonin. He chuckles and hands me Carter, "Can I ask you guys for a favor?" he asks, and Christian and I look at him before I focus back on Carter as he babbles something to me.
"What's up, man?" Christian says.
"So it's Larisa's and I's anniversary tonight, and we were wondering if you guys could watch them for a few hours," he tells us, and I see no problem with it. I would watch those kids in a heartbeat.
"Unless you guys have something else to do. We can find someone else. It's just the kids love and trust you guys, so we figured we would ask."
I look at Christian and shrug but quickly nod. He nods at Ryan, "Yeah, we'll do it. We aren't doing anything tonight."
"Thank you guys so much. We owe you," he says and we both laugh. "We'll talk after the game?" he asks and we both nod. I hand Carter back to him. Carter turns to Christian and me and claps his hands and babbles again, "Someone is excited you guys agreed to watch him," he says and we both laugh.
Ryan leaves us to be as I get back to work. "Wrists, ankles, or both?" I ask holding up some tape. "Both, please," he says and I nod. "How are you doing?" he asks me as he scoots back so I can tape his ankles.
I look up at him and smile, "Really good. Like, I don't know, just really good. I can tell I'm more comfortable and just free. I'm really sure how to put it," I laugh and smile.
He sits there, grinning at me, "I'm really glad to hear that. Not that you weren't happy before, but the happiness is radiating off of you now. We can all tell," he says and I smile.
He stands back up and hugs me. I quickly kiss him as I hear other guys coming in, "Go kill it out there. I can't wait for tonight," I say and wink at him. "Me too," he says and jogs back to the field. My love for him, you can't compare it to anything in this world.
The guys were on a roll, Ryan and Christian had a total of six hits together and scored four of our runs. It was insane to see. This is what I wished every year looked like, for the entire year. Christian came back into the dugout after his second home run and high-fived everyone as he made his way through the dugout. I stick out my hand so he can high-five it but instead, he grabs it and smiles at me. I mouth, "I love you," and he smiles and returns it.
I was getting my bag ready so we could leave and head over to Ryan's house. "You ready?" I hear from Christian. I turn around and see him leaning against the doorframe. I nod and shut off the lights and lock my office door. "We need to be there in about an hour," he says and I check my phone for the time, 6:12.
Christian and I quickly change into some comfier clothes and grab some food before heading over to Ryan's. "You guys look great," I say as they welcome us into their home that overlooks Lake Michigan in Whitefish Bay.
