Planning Something Big?

Christian~

I roll over onto my side facing away from the sunlight that is being shone in through our windows. Neither of us got much sleep last night, and not for the reason you think. Okay, maybe a little.

We tossed and turned for hours on end. It's like we couldn't get comfy. At some point in the night, she did fall asleep so I was glad. I've seen how hard she's been working and I know she's exhausted. Between working every day for sometimes 11+ hours and also planning Maggie's gender reveal, and keeping up with the house, making sure it's clean, and that we've both ate.

We were hosting the Wild Card tonight against the Rockies. We just needed one win and we would advance. I guess we're all taking it day-by-day and see what happens.

I grab my phone and see it's almost 9. I look back over at Brooklyn and see her facing away from me. I really don't want to wake her up, she seems so peaceful, and she needs it. I make my way out of bed and downstairs to put something together for breakfast.

She usually makes herself a smoothie before we leave. I'm pretty sure I can handle the blender. Hopefully, it isn't too loud.

I dump the smoothie into two cups since I went a little overboard with how much I put in. I grab one of her metal straws and bring it up to her. How can someone look so peaceful when they sleep?

I rub her bare back trying to wake her up gently. She turns her head into her pillow and lightly groans. "It's 9:30, we both need to be there at noon," I whisper to her as I sit on the edge of the bed. She turns her head back to me and smiles and starts to sit up against the headboard. "Here," I say handing her the cup.

"Thank you. Did you ever fall asleep?"

"Not really. I think I got in a couple of hours before I woke up, but I was just glad to see you got to sleep."

She nods and takes a sip of her smoothie. "How are you feeling about tonight?" she asks me and I just sit there and think.

"I mean of course I hope we win. I'm in the same boat as you, as much as I want to win, I can tell we all need a break. You know if we do lose, I won't be as mad as I normally would be."

"I do want you to win, there's no doubt, but you're right. We all need a break from this crazy lifestyle we all chose to live," she says slightly laughing. "There's my favorite smile," I say making her smile even harder as I rub my hand up and down her leg. "I've missed that smile."

"I'm gonna go shower and get ready and then we can leave," she tells me and moves her legs to dangle on the side before pushing herself up. She walks past me and I gently grab her hand to pull her back to me. "Don't think you're going anywhere without getting a kiss," I say and quickly kiss her.

"I love you," she says as our lips linger on each other. "I love you too. I'll be downstairs watching some film."

"Are you ready?" I ask her as she comes downstairs as I sit on the couch going over some stuff for tonight. She heads over to the kitchen to rinse out her cup and fill her water bottle. "Yeah, I gotta get my bag though."

"It's right here," I say pulling her bag out from the chair that sits at the island. She comes over and puts her laptop in her bag and puts it over her shoulder. "Let's go win this game."

Brooklyn and I walk into the stadium and walk toward her office. Ryan was heading our way as she opened the trainer's room door. "Brauny, you're here already?" I ask him as we all head into her office. "Yeah, wanted to get into the cages before a lot of the guys get here."
